Message from Mrs Welson for 20th April

English

This week I would like you to work through the writing activity which you took home in your packs based on the magic lamp. You can work through one focus each day or complete these in whichever order suits you and your family. You can write on the sheets or in your English books.

In your SPAG book I would like you to work through the activities on pages 42 and 43 which focus on the use of commas in a list. There is a clip which could remind you of how commas can be used in this way.

Phonics, you should have information in your packs about this week's phonics which as you have in previous weeks you should practise writing in sentences, find the words in a dictionary so that you can look up the definitions and ask someone at home to test you on your focus spellings.

I have also found a new reading comprehension which is based on a really interesting person called Tim Jones, see what you can find out and show me how well you have understood it when you answer the questions.

This week we are changing our focus to statistics. As you work your way through this week's resources I wonder how many of these different types to record information or data you will remember from Year 3?

Science

Here is week 1 of our new topic 'states of matter'. When we went to Techniquest most of you did do some exploring which was linked to this topic. Do you remember exploring the water activities? How many of you worked with the hot air balloon?

Ancient Egyptians

This week I have another exciting clip for you to watch and a challenge for you to try! I wonder what will be your favourite fact this week?
