Art

Do you know what happens when you cut a tree in half?  What pattern can you see inside the tree?

It's a pattern of rings called tree rings.  They are also called concentric circles.  If you count the rings you can find out how old the tree is.  Today we've going to do some art based on tree rings or concentric circles.

These pictures are of actual tree rings.  Below are some pieces of art that use tree rings.

You can use felt tips or the finest pen you can find to draw tree rings.  If you use a permanent marker then you can add colour to your work.  I will share our work from class on here to give you some ideas.  Remember that tree rings are not perfect circles so your circles don't need to be perfect either.  Please email me your art using the email yr1teacher@kington.hereford.sch.uk.  I can't wait to see it.
