Maths

Today we'll look at Comparing Objects.  We have covered this in class but it is really important that the children are confident using language such as more than, less than, fewer, greater than and equal to.

On the first page of the worksheet the children should be able to subitise (say the number of objects without counting) most of the groups of objects.  I would ask them to do this first and then to write next to each group how many objects they can see.  If they are not able to subitise then it is fine for them to count the objects.  Remind them that greater than means more than in case they have forgotten.

Watch the video then complete the sheet (in your original pack).

Aut1.3.2 - Compare objects

This is "Aut1.3.2 - Compare objects" by White Rose Maths on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

Below is the worksheet in case you can't find it in your pack.
If your child is working confidently with this vocabulary then have a go at the worksheet below that focuses on some simple problems using the vocabulary more, less and fewer.
Below is a link to a game called Chopper Squad that focuses again on more/less and asks the children to find numbers that are one more or one less than a given number.  You may have played it last week.
