Maths

Today we will be comparing number sentences.  We have used the more (greater) than and less than symbols to help us compare numbers but have not yet used them to compare number sentences.  Some children find it easier to use the symbols correctly if they have them drawn and labeled in front of them whilst they work.

< less than

> more (greater) than

It is also important that they use the vocabulary more than, greater than or less than.  Use it for them so that they get used to hearing it, then expect them to have a go at using it themselves.

Watch the tutorial below before having a go at the sheets.

Year 1 - Week 4 - Lesson 4 - Compare number sentences

This is "Year 1 - Week 4 - Lesson 4 - Compare number sentences" by White Rose Maths on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

If your child just needs to practice using the more than and less than symbols do one of the sheets below instead of the White Rose sheets.  There is a choice of two sheets one with numbers to 100 and one with numbers to 20.
