It has been such a productive and enjoyable week across school . We have all enjoyed the moments of beautiful sunshine and had some lovely time outside.
We started the week with Mrs. Welson's assembly with the theme of 'hopes and dreams'. We have been gifted a copy of the enchanting story 'The Little Ocean' written by Matthew Berto. Mrs. Welson shared this story with everyone and explained about the characters in the book having their own hopes and dreams. The book has an important local connection, which Mrs. Welson also shared, because it is linked to Annasley Park who is from our local area and attended LHS. One of her personal hopes and dreams has been to row across the Atlantic Ocean on her own to raise important funds for 4 charities. She is setting sail in the next couple of days (weather dependent) and we will track her journey as much as we can. The storybook and her own personal story were both interesting to share and inspiring for all of us.
This week we have also welcomed Reverend Sally to lead her first assembly with us. She shared an important story for Christians about Jesus visiting a temple and lit a very exciting candle to help explain that candles are important objects for people who follow Christianity. We impressed Reverend Sally with our wonderful singing as we shared our 'I have a song' assembly song.
This week Head Teacher stickers have been given for such lovely reasons including brilliant maths, always giving 100% in all that they do, showing resilience when faced with a tricky challenge, being fantastic role models, being able to try new things and show determination when doing so and for being a good friend. Congratulations to you all.
In our Friday assembly we also awarded our weekly attendance prize and were all very impressed with Year 5, who last week, achieved an attendance of 99.2%! Amazing Year 5, we hope that you have enjoyed your extra playtime today.
We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday. Unbelievably, it will of course, be February on Monday and so we will start exploring together our new value which is 'Trust'.
