Weekly News 20th December 2024

This week has been such a magical and exciting one for us all. We would like to say a huge 'Thank you' to all of the adults who work in our wonderful school, they have each put so much effort into making this last week of term so special, we really do appreciate you all.

Our fantastic week included KS2's atmospheric concert at St. Mary's on Tuesday night, which was so well supported by our amazing families that there was standing room only! The children performed 'Jesus' Christmas Party' with enthusiasm and joy and everyone, who was lucky enough to be there, was so impressed.

On Wednesday, we had a special assembly where our Sports Council awarded their prizes for the KS2 active playtimes competition which they have been running. The results achieved by the 4 prize winners for bouncing a netball and throwing and catching a tennis ball amazed the whole school! We also announced the winners of our recent poetry competition and the super winning entries will be on display after the holidays in the school library. In addition, we awarded our half termly values ticket prize and we discovered which class had won this half term's attendance prize which will be enjoyed in the New Year. A very excited Year 6 were the winners this time around.

On Wednesday, we were also treated to a delicious Christmas lunch from LHS which our lunchtime team made such a lovely experience for all. Alongside our lunch our fabulous Year 6 children organised and ran a wonderful variety of different stalls. The other classes were so enthusiastic to be in with a chance of winning one of the very exciting prizes! Thank you so much Year 6.

Thursday, was our class party day and as you can see from the small selection of pictures everyone had a fun time. The games and activities which class adults had organised were really creative and engaging, the buzz around school was such a lovely thing to be part of.

Today, we have ended our week with our important end of term achievement certificates. The reasons that class teachers have shared included children who consistently show our school values,  demonstrating great personal progress this half term,  having a brilliant attitude towards learning and being a super role model for others. During our special assembly we were able to share with the children that thanks to the generosity of donations given at the KS1 and KS2 performances, we have raised enough money to sponsor 2 guide dogs in training.  Our pups are called Custard and Jack! Thank you to anyone who was able to donate. The money raised at the EYFS performance and Y6 stalls has been gratefully received by Save the Children.

We were chosen this week to be hosts for the St Mary's travelling crib and it had pride of place in the entrance for the day that it visited us for.

This week we have also said a 'Thank you and good luck' to Miss Price who has been supporting children in our youngest classes and to Mrs. Oliver who is leaving our lunchtime team. Thank you both for the care and dedication that you have shown in these roles.

Finally, we would like to say 'Thank you' to all of our wonderful families who have supported us all, this term. We would like to wish everybody a really Happy Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all in 2025!
