Welcome everyone to our weekly blog. We hope that you enjoy hearing about news from across our wonderful school.

This has been another busy, happy and exciting week here at Kington. We started the week with Mrs Bretherton, in assembly on Monday, thinking more about our value of 'responsibility' and gave careful thought to those responsibilities which help others, those that are sometimes challenging to do and those which we could help each other with. As normal, our Year 6 House Captains took their responsibility of awarding house-point badges very seriously, and it was super to celebrate all of those who had achieved their next badge this week.

On Tuesday, it was our last enrichment morning for this school year, and the children all relished the chance to explore the exciting and inspiring activities organised by our brilliant staff team. The children all returned to their year groups full of news about what they had been up to in one of our groups. Thank you, as ever, to our fantastic staff team who put so much thought, effort and time into making these sessions such a positive experience for everyone.

We welcomed Hannah from 'Checkpoint' on Wednesday, and she told us more about the Bible character Joshua and the story focused on the city of Jericho. Everyone enjoyed being part of the acting out of the story, and it was interesting to hear from Hannah why, as a Christian, Joshua is such an important figure for her.

On Wednesday, our Year 5 and 6 children who were taking part in the residential trip to London left Kington very early! We have missed having them all in school and look forward to hearing about the amazing places that they have visited and the experiences which they have explored, including going to see 'The Lion King'. You can see some of the places which they have visited in our blog photos area. They will be returning to Kington later on today, and we hope that they will all like our 'Welcome Back' sign!

For those of us in school, this week has been one full of sports day practices, show songs being sung at every available moment in Key Stage 2 and our Y5/6 group enjoying Forest School and prop making among other interesting activities.

In our assembly today, we had an update on how our sponsored guide dog puppies, Custard and Henry, are doing. Mrs Welson shared with us pictures of the puppies and told us some of the key skills which they have been working on. We are going to share their latest 'pupdates' films in Monday's assembly and Mrs Welson knows that everyone will be amazed at how much progress they are making.

For our Headteacher stickers today, we heard about children who have impressed their class teachers with their early counting skills and following instructions so well. Also, children who have been noticed doing their absolute best at all times and consistently showing our 3 school rules: Ready, Respectful and Safe. We also heard about children who have been excellent role models this week, who have been working with the most wonderful enthusiasm for learning, and children who have gained in confidence when sharing with others.

We hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend, stay cool in the heat, and we will look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

* Pirate themed writing competition is open until Friday 3rd July. Prizes to be won for the winning entries.

* Next Thursday is our sports day morning up at LHS on the main field. We aim to start at 9.30am.

* Next Friday is our summer fayre after school in the big playground which our fabulous 'Friends' group are busy preparing for.
