Wow! What a week this has been for us all! We would like to start our round-up of news from across our lovely school by saying a 'Huge Thank You' to all of our amazing children and fantastic staff team who have helped each other to cope so brilliantly in this current heatwave.

On Monday, Years 3 and 4 had a wonderful trip to see the Viking exhibition at The Priory, Leominster. They had a fantastic time learning more about Anglo-Saxon and Viking life and heard much more about the Herefordshire Hoard. The children had a super time exploring four different activities and visited the shop! They then enjoyed a picnic lunch in the shade at the large park next to The Priory. As always, everyone who accompanied the children was so impressed with their brilliant behaviour, manners and focus.

On Tuesday, Years 1 and 2 also went on an exciting trip. They visited Madley Environmental Centre, which was a fantastic opportunity to further explore the natural world, and they all had a super time. Our younger children also impressed all of their adults with their focus, positive attitude and enthusiasm.

The volunteers and leaders at both of these visiting centres shared with our staff just how impressed they had been with our classes and their confident and enthusiastic understanding of these topics, which was lovely to hear.

We heard on Monday in assembly with Mrs Bretherton, about a character from a story called 'The Extraordinary Gardener' where the themes of love towards the natural world and responsibility for ourselves and others which helped everyone to reflect further on our value of 'responsibility'.

We have not held assemblies throughout the rest of the week due to the weather, but in class we have all continued to think about 'responsibility' and today Mrs Bretherton had the pleasure of visiting each classroom to hear about who had been awarded the 'Headteacher stickers'.

During such an unusual week, it has been amazing to hear about the achievements of our children and this week stickers were awarded for continued enthusiasm and hard work, for positive friendships and for having a brilliant 'can-do' attitude. Mrs Bretherton also heard about children who have been impressing adults this week with more positive choices made, for showing fantastic manners and for reflecting our school values so brilliantly. We also said a huge 'Thank you' and 'Good Luck' to Mrs Eagan Savage, who has been a wonderful student teacher in Year 4. 

During the day today our incredible group of 'Friends' have been busily organising the summer fair for after-school today. We hope that many of you are planning to visit and try the many different stalls which we have, including bottle stall, teddy in a bag, human fruit machine stall, book stall and many more, plus, of course, the ice-cream van! Thank you to everyone who has managed to sell their raffle tickets. We really appreciate it. It has taken so much time and effort to put on the fair, and we will let you know next week how much is raised.

We hope that everyone has a good weekend, stays cool and will be ready for our Sports Day on Monday. We aim to start at 9.30 up on LHS field. Due to it being Sports Day, everyone should come to school in their PE kit ready to take part with an extra drink and hat.
