Science

Last week we learnt a new way to sort animals.  We sorted animals into two groups, invertebrates and vertebrates.  This week we are going to sort animals in a different way.  We are going to think about what animals eat and sort them according to what they eat.  This week there will be three groups to sort into.  The groups have got long names.  They are called; carnivores, omnivores and herbivores.

Carnivores are animals that only eat meat.

Herbivores eat only plants and things that come from plants such as seeds and friut.

Omnivores eat both meat and plants.

Watch this short video to learn more about these groups.

Now read through this power point (with your adult if you need help with the reading) to help you learn more about these three groups.
Finally I'd like you to sort these animals into three groups.  Print out the sorting grid and the animals to sort.
