Welcome back everyone to our first weekly catch-up of the summer term.
It was so lovely on Monday to welcome everyone back to school and to hear about the fantastic Easter holidays that everyone had enjoyed. As ever, we have had a busy and exciting week across school and would like to share with you some of the highlights.
Our week began with our shared assembly celebrating the children who had earnt their latest housepoint badge, and we were all proud to share in their achievements. We also started to think about our new monthly value of respect and how this is such an important part of our 3 rules 'Ready, Respectful and Safe' and how this value can be shown to others.
We have also heard this week about the latest inter-house competition which our fantastic house captains are running over the next few weeks. This time it is going to be a KS2 football competition. So many of our children are really excited about the opportunity to play for their house or to be an enthusiastic supporter! We will keep you up to date through the blog about how the matches are going.
On Wednesday, we welcomed back our friend Mr Sell, who shared with us the Christian importance of the Easter period and the events after it. We also heard about how, in his role as Kington Mayor, Mr Sell has to show respect but is also shown respect as he carries out his duties. We were very lucky to see the mayoral chain which represents everyone in Kington. Mr Sell also shared with us a competition which Kington Town Council are running. The competition is to design a poster to help people in our town remember to put their rubbish in a bin and to pick up their dog's waste. Any entries for this competition can be handed to class teachers with the deadline being the end of April.
Wednesday was a very exciting day for Year 2 as they started their Forest School session and enjoyed exploring the natural spaces at the Rec with Vik, our Forest School leader. Year 2 represented our school brilliantly within our community. Thank you all.
Today, we have gathered together for our headteacher stickers and were ever so pleased to be able to award them to two children from each class. The reasons for the stickers today were great and included always working hard and for being more independent with their writing, for being a super friend to others, for showing a strong work ethic in everything they do and for focusing on their own handwriting. We also heard about children who have been an excellent role model for others, who have presented their own written work beautifully, and those who had got back into the routines of school in this first week back with ease. We also said a fond farewell and 'best of luck' to friends who are moving to a new school.
We hope that you all have a super weekend. We hear that there might be some brighter weather on the way, and look forward to seeing you all on Monday ready for another great week.
