Weekly News 5th September 2025

Welcome to our new school year everyone. We have loved seeing you all this week in school, whether you are coming back into a new class or starting your time with us here at Kington Primary.

We are so grateful for how well everyone in our school community has adapted to the changes caused by our building works. Over the summer, the building team alongside Mr. Smith, our site manager, have worked tirelessly to complete the damp improvement project in the oldest parts of our school and to have made a terrific start with our extension. It has been fascinating for the children (and staff) to see the changes and to watch the continuing progress since Wednesday. We will keep you updated each week on how the project is going.

This week, we have also had the chance to work alongside Mr. Fotheringham, who is our new PE member of staff, he has been impressed with the enthusiasm which Kington Primary has for PE and sport, and we look forward to working with him this year.

In our first assembly of this school year on Wednesday, we thought about our two values for this month and why they might go together. In September, we are focusing on 'friendship' and 'kindness' and have been thinking in class about ways in which these values can be shown.

Across school, it has been so lovely to see how our new classes have settled in and there has been a calm and purposeful atmosphere in all learning areas. Although this has been a shorter week together, we have been able to celebrate individual achievements with our Headteacher stickers today. The reasons for today's stickers were as varied and wonderful as ever and included making good choices, having lovely manners and being a good listener, working really hard in all that they do, coping well with being in a new class and a new part of school, being a kind friend to others and for trying their best in all lessons this week.

Congratulations and 'well done' to you all.

We hope that everyone has a super weekend and can enjoy some sunny days before we are back together on Monday ready for a new week.
