Welcome to our weekly news update sharing the latest news from our fantastic school!
This week has been another exciting, productive and busy week across our school.
On Monday, we revisited the qualities of friendship which we consider important with Mrs. Bretherton and we were introduced to a new very catchy whole school song ready for our harvest assembly.
In Wednesday's assembly, Reverend Sally shared with us the names of the disciples and explained how each one of them had their own qualities which helped to make them a 'good friend'. Our disciple volunteers did a really good job of helping us all to remember the names of each disciple. As always, Reverend Sally ended her assembly with a special candle, and it was enjoyed by everyone, in particular Year 1, for whom this was their first assembly with Reverend Sally!
We have held a very successful cake sale for Macmillan this morning and would like to thank everyone for their generosity, those who donated the cakes and those who donated such an amazing amount of money. The children enjoyed their delicious cakes and understood that they had helped raise money for an important charity. We have managed to raise over £261 from the cakes enjoyed this morning and the cake sale after school. A particular 'Thank you' to Mrs. Miles from our 'Friends' group for helping us to organise and deliver the cakes to the classrooms and running the after-school sale.
In building work this week, we have all been interested to see the walls of the extension develop even further and the internal spaces are really starting to take shape. Our super building team have continued to make great progress with the project. We also have another area of school with some new buildings in but this time they are for visiting bugs and minibeasts! Year 2 have proudly constructed their own development with super signs and labels, and we are all sure that they will attract some very happy minibeasts.
In our photographs today you will also see the reminder about the open evening which is coming up, but also our new toddler group, which we are pleased to be starting on a Monday afternoon from 2pm until 3.30pm in our amazing Nursery.
In our assembly this morning we have celebrated the achievements of 2 children from each class from Reception to Year 6. Class teachers have, as usual, considered so carefully the reasons for the stickers, and we were all impressed when we heard all about them. This week we have learnt about children who have shown that they are great role models, for gaining confidence and volunteering many more of their own ideas and answers in their classroom, for coping well with change, for fantastic science work, for being helpful and kind and for completing great homework. What impressive reasons, congratulations to you all.
In addition to celebrating personal achievements in school this week, we were also able to congratulate some competition-winning artists! We presented certificates from the recent Kington Show and said 'well done' to those who had been chosen as one of the first, second or third place winners. As a school, we were very proud of the number, quality and variety of entries that we submitted this year and also received a certificate for the whole school entry in the schools' competition.
We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday, ready for another busy and exciting week together.
