Weekly News 17th October 2025

Welcome everyone, to our weekly catch up from life here at Kington Primary.

We have had such a lovely busy week across school and would love to share with you some of the exciting opportunities we have enjoyed.

On Tuesday, we had our first enrichment morning of the year and it was just brilliant! Across school there was much excitement getting ready to explore the different activities which are an art based theme linked to well-being, a world study workshop learning about India, an opportunity to explore cooking with balance, contributing towards the outside environment of our school,  considering purposeful and safe use of AI and performing songs and poems for an audience. Everyone agreed that they had a wonderful morning and had been pleased to be work again with their enrichment family groups. Thank you to all of the adults who had put so much effort into making these sessions so engaging, enjoyable and productive for all of our age groups.

On Tuesday evening, we were proud to hold our school open evening and welcome so many families to have a tour with our fantastic ambassadors. Our Y6 ambassadors represented our school so wonderfully that we have had messages of thanks since the evening expressing how great they were and how they were such a great reflection of our school and our values. What a wonderful compliment ambassadors, we are very proud of you all.

Year 4 have had a great time at the Rec with their Forest School sessions and would like to share with you some of the art inspired by nature that they have worked on.

Today, Mr Ward-Willis and Mrs Painter have accompanied our girls football team to the Selina Cup competition which was held up at LHS.  A huge 'thank you' to Mr Ward-Willis who has organised the whole tournament and worked so hard to make this a positive experience not just for our team but also those from the other schools taking part.

Next Friday, we have the Mitchell Hamer tournament also at LHS for our netball and football teams. Mrs Welson and Mr Ward-Willis are busy getting these ready and we will be able to share more next week.

Our building project is progressing well and we thought that we would share some new photos with you this week. Hopefully you can see the progress being made by our wonderful build team and can start to see how the space will look both inside and outside.

We have also heard this week that we have been gifted £1057 from the recent OaktoberFest held by the Royal Oak in Kington. This amazing donation will be put towards playground developments which we have planned for our outside environment once the building project is completed.

In our assemblies this week have been thinking about our new value and been pleased to have a lovely celebration of personal achievements.

On Monday, Mrs Bretherton shared with us our new value which is 'Honesty' and we started to think about how we can demonstrate this important value.

In Wednesday's assembly Hannah shared with us a story from the Bible which is very important to her as a Christian and everyone was very respectful whilst she talked to us about this.

Today, we have enjoyed a lovely celebration assembly together where we have heard about children across school who have shown fantastic resilience when faced with a challenge or tricky situation, have really 'found their feet' in their year group and are being a positive role model for others, for being a kind hearted member of their class who is always very caring and a true friend to many, for consistently being focused and ready to learn and for having a fantastic week from the beginning to the end. A great big 'Well Done' from us all.

We would like to wish everyone a 'Happy Weekend' and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday ahead of our last week together of this half term.

Information for half term : During the half term there is a 'wild play' session on Monday 27th October from 10-12 at the Rec.
