Throughout the year, we explore our core values, which are: Hope, Trust, Courage & Perseverance, Respect, Cooperation, Responsibility, Kindness & Friendship, Honesty, Peace and Understanding. We do this during our daily assemblies and look out for them throughout the school, earning Values Vouchers and Beads as we go.

In July, we focus on all the values together.

We have had such a wonderfully busy week across school and we would like to share some news from the different activities we have enjoyed this week.

Players from Years 3 and 4 went to LHS to take part in a 'bee netball' tournament on Tuesday and played so well impressing each other and Mrs Wood & Mrs Joyce.

We have spent time across school celebrating 'World Book Day' in lots of different creative ways. Every class has been excited to spend a session with Kate from 'The Courtyard' working on performance poetry. Kate was really impressed with the quality of our drama work and the confidence that she saw when we were performing. Some classes enjoyed some 'buddy reading' time where everyone had time to 'read for pleasure' which is a key focus across school and Y4 visited Kington library.  KS1 had a fantastic visit to Hereford to see 'The owl and the pussycat' and to spend their £1 book vouchers. We were so amazed at the variety of costumes which were worn on Friday for our WBD celebrations and would like to thank everyone for the hard work and thought that had obviously gone into them, it really made our day special to see everyone and guess who they were!

In our Friday assembly we were able to give out the prizes to the winners of both our poetry writing and book in a box/jar competitions which Mrs Welson and Miss Moss from LHS had a lovely but tough time judging! (Please remember that the boxes and jars will be on display for families to see after school on Monday in the hall).

We also said 'well done' to our Head-teacher's sticker children this week who had shown so many positive qualities and values including kindness, determination, enthusiasm for learning, consistency of positive attitude and hard work and being a brilliant role model for others.

We then finished our week with our two discos organised and run by our wonderful 'Friends' group which were great fun and a super way to end a memorable week.

Photos of our WBD will be shared on the website next week.

What strange weather we've had today! A bit of everything it seems.

We had a lovely assembly today, celebrating a huge amount of people who have earned their next house point badges, expertly presented as always by our House Captains.  Next came our headteacher's stickers which really celebrated the children's hard working attitudes and those who are making really good choices in their learning and around the school.  We also had lots of children nominated because they are doing so well with their fractions which, as you will know, can be really tricky and need lots of perseverance to keep working through.

In other news, I have shared some of our photos from the Year 5 and 6 trip to Blists Hill, a Victorian town last Friday. Everyone found it so interesting to explore all the working shops and buildings, giving us a great insight into life during the Victorian times, particularly the Victorian school lesson which we were dressed up for and then marched through town!

And finally, thank you and congratulations to our Year fives who performed their 'Come Alive' dance in two performances at The Courtyard Theatre on Tuesday to a packed out audience. They were just amazing and did everyone at school really proud.

Enjoy getting ready for World Book Dress Up Day next Friday and please do come and see our competition entries in the hall after school on Monday 11th March (please note new date due to School Disco on the 8th).

Thanks all and have a lovely weekend, whatever the weather is up to!

We gathered to celebrate our achievements this week from children in our Reception and Years 1,2,3 and 4 classes. We missed Years 5 and 6, but know that they were having an amazing day on their trip to Blist Hill. Our headteacher stickers were awarded for such a fantastic variety of reasons which were lovely to hear all about. They included welcoming new children to our school so positively, being trustworthy at all times, demonstrating self motivation about learning and dependency to show their best, being a wonderful role model for others in their class, asking for help when any is needed and showing an enthusiasm for their own progress and learning.

We look forward to hearing more about the Year 5 and 6 trip next week and wish everyone a happy weekend.

We've had so much going on in school this week, I will let the photos do the talking! From Enrichment where each group explores one of the principles of Harmony, Bikeability for some of our Year 5 children, Internet Safety assembly and lessons, a talk on how to be kind online by PC Jo and we even had two rock bands from the Hereford College of Arts come and play to us. They had us all dancing by the end!  Congratulations to Wales for winning the Running Club trophy, four of our Y4 children who already know all of their times tables (wow!) and to our wonderful Achievement Certificate awardees.  A big well done to Year 4 who have worked so well as a determined team to win this half term's attendance prize with a very impressive 98.9%!

Have a lovely half term all and we will see you back on Monday 19th February.

We had a real treat in assembly today as a group of our Year 3 children performed a small play they had created themselves to show how we can deal with unkindness on the playground.  This has been a recent focus in our assemblies where we are practising strategies through drama to stand up to bullying behaviour.  Thankyou so much to all our classes for taking part and well done to the Year 3 group who kept practising in their lunchtimes so they could share their play with everyone. Clearly, we have lots of budding young actors!

We also celebrated lots of children's hard work and wonderful qualities with our Headteacher's Stickers, awarded for super reading, showing resilience, sharing happy smiles with friends and for giving 100% in everything they do.  Well done all. Have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday.

Good morning! You'll notice we have some of our older pupils demonstrating some of the sign language they have learnt this week with Katie who specialises in BSL. See if your children can remember the signs they were acting out in assembly this morning to teach you - they were very good!  Thank you to Katie for coming into school to do the workshops with Years 5 and 6 as well as the staff; we found it so interesting and loved being able to communicate in a different way.

Congratulations to our house point badge awardees and our Headteacher sticker winners today. So many were chosen for making super progress and for being wonderful role models around the school so thank you to them all.

It's been a really lovely end to the week! We had our first assembly with everyone from Reception all the way up to Year 6 with us and we were able to celebrate lots of house point badges as well as the Headteacher's Stickers.  Well done to you all! A lot of teachers mentioned children making huge progress and great choices, wonderful story writing skills and showing kindness by helping and encouraging others around them.

Thank you to our lovely House Captain team who were the first to enjoy our new signs and maps that we have put up today.  They really are fantastic and will give us all a chance to practise our map-reading skills and view the different parts of our town, continent and the world. Please look out for some more in the next few months.

Have a lovely weekend everyone - take care.

We had a fantastic time at the World Resorts Arena on Friday, joining over 5500 children from other schools to sing and dance through a very exciting evening Young Voices performance.  Thank you to our marvellous Young Voices choir from Years 4, 5 and 6 who represented the school so well and sang their hearts out!

It has been so lovely to welcome everyone back to our new term and new year this week.

We have had a busy and exciting start to the new term and tomorrow our Young Voices singers from Years 4,5 and 6 are going to Birmingham to sing as part of the 'Young Voices' performance, due to this we had our sticker assembly today.

Our sticker children this week have done ever so well to impress their class adults in just a few days so congratulations to you all.

Reasons for the stickers this week included showing a positive learning attitude at all times, demonstrating our values of kindness and thoughtfulness to others and for showing determination to start our new term with focus and positive learning behaviours. Stickers were also awarded for showing excellent understanding in maths, showing enthusiasm in all lessons and for improvements in reading comprehension and handwriting.

Wow! What a super variety of reasons for our stickers this week.

Working in a school at this time of year definitely feels like one of the most 'Christmassy' of places. We've had parties, carol concerts and sing-a-longs, Christmas lunch (served by our amazing Lunchtime team), Year 6 Christmas games and achievement certificate assembly  - all in just 4 days!  In our assembly today, Year 3 won the class attendance award again so well done to them and England are currently coming out on top in the values beads count.

We also said a very sad 'au revoir' to Mr Perkins who has kindly donated some ICT books and awards for the school so we can keep up his amazing work in the field of ICT.  He certainly deserves his own very special achievement certificate!

Thank you for all our cards, gifts or well wishes and we hope you all manage to switch off a bit and have some lovely times together.  We will see you all back in school on Tuesday 9th January 2024!  Take care all and happy Christmas and New Year.

We've definitely got into the Christmas spirit this week with our KS1 and Early Years children performing their nativities to packed audiences!  They did so well at singing, dancing and acting out the stories to so many proud family members as well as the rest of the children in school. Well done to our youngest children for bringing it to life and a huge thank you to all the wonderful staff for their hard work in putting it all together.

I had a lovely morning visiting each class on Friday to hand out Headteacher's Stickers. The teachers have found it really hard to pick just two for their class this week as everyone has been working so hard and being such good role models.  Of course, Mr Perkins was awarded one too - he's definitely earned his sticker over his 13 years of teaching at KPS!  Year 3 had a great afternoon of games in the LHS sports hall with their special teddies - their chosen prize for winning the highest class attendance last half term.

Well done all and have a lovely weekend!

So many lovely things to write about in this week's blog.

Today children have been awarded Head Teacher Stickers for many reasons; including making good choices, playing well with others, enthusiasm and for showing our value of 'understanding'.

Well done to our Sports Council for organising and running our Santa Dash, which saw children across the school being active and taking part in fun challenges.

Thank you very much to many of our Year 6 children, who helped to bake and raise money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).  All the children across school really enjoyed the cakes and together we raised £90 for this special charity.

Also this week, the children were treated to a lovely pantomime of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol.  Thank you again to the 'Friends' committee for organising this and using raised funds to subsidise so all our children could enjoy it.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in school now with our Christmas lights up and tree in the main entrance.  Thank you also to Tack Barn Farm for donating a beautiful tree for the garden again this year; we really appreciate it and it looks lovely.

A very busy week and there's yet more exciting things to come in the last few weeks.  Have a lovely weekend.
