News from the week of 2nd December 2024

What an amazingly busy week we have had across our amazing school!

On Tuesday we had our second enrichment morning of the school year and there were so many positive learning experiences happening in all classes. Our groups took part in community litter picking, visited Kington Court to entertain the residents with carols, poems and cards, thought of new ways to promote our school, explored exciting art, created a healthy noodle dish and considered ways to support our own well-being. Please look at the photos of some of the exciting activities.

On Thursday we were really excited to share the pantomime 'Cinderella' which was full of fun, songs and dancing (some of our staff even had a go!). We would like to thank our 'Friends' group for arranging this wonderful annual experience for our children.

We are sure that you will have noticed our beautiful lights and decorations around school. We would like to thank the 'Tack Farm' for their kind donation of our Christmas tree which is looking beautifully festive outside our Y5/6 block.

Today we have celebrated individual achievements with our Headteacher's stickers. Reasons for the stickers today included: fantastic progress in maths, amazing regular reading at home, being a positive role model for others, demonstrating brilliant defensive skills in PE and for giving 100% with their learning. Congratulations also went to Year 2 who had the best attendance across school last week.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the non-uniform day by bringing in chocolate and sweets. Unfortunately, due to the storm the food festival has been cancelled, however, our 'Friends' group are going to organise a fundraising stall before the end of term which we let everyone know about closer to the time.

We would also like to congratulate all of the staff and community at LHS for their recent 'Good' OFSTED report which was wonderful to hear about.

Mrs. Bretherton thanks everyone for their kind thoughts and we all wish her the best as she recovers. We know that she will be checking the weekly blog and will be excited to hear all about your fantastic learning experiences, progress and achievements in the coming weeks.

Have a great weekend everyone, stay dry and warm and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
