Welcome everyone to our Kington Primary weekly catch-up.

We were so pleased to welcome everyone back on Monday, and it was lovely to hear what everyone had been up to over the half-term.

We have had an amazingly busy first week of the half-term and would like to share our highlights from the week with you.

We started the week with a very exciting event where, for the first time this school year, we were all able to be together inside our newly refurbished areas. We held our assembly together in the new space, and it was such a joy as we sang together to celebrate. We have all been happy to be better connected and to be able to see each other throughout the day, and it was lovely to show parents around the new area after school yesterday. We will welcome families again after school today to explore our new rooms and areas. We will be holding an official opening event and will share details of this closer to the time. While we were thrilled to be fully accessible again, we were sad to see the build team go, and they passed on their thanks to the whole school community for being so positive and welcoming to work with.

On Monday it was also our 'Money Monday' theme across school, where our children explore elements of financial education and understanding. In different year groups, children thought about the value of saving money, how important budgeting is and ways in which people can find the best price for items. This is an important morning in our school and the children had wonderful questions and ideas as they always do.

On Wednesday, Reverend Sally shared with us an interesting Bible story which was linked to our money focus, about a father and his two sons. The main themes were trust and forgiveness, which, as Reverend Sally explained, are important ideas for many people, including Christians. Our Year 6s had a great time acting out the story for us all and helped us to think about how each character in the story would have felt at different times.

Our brilliant Year 5 class represented our school so well on Tuesday afternoon and evening at the 'Moving targets' dance celebration at the Courtyard theatre in Hereford. The whole school were so impressed when they saw a film of the performance in today's assembly and thought that Year 5 had all been the most fantastic, brave, brilliant dancers who had produced an awesome dance. Congratulations to all of our dancers and the whole Year 5 team for working so hard over many weeks to produce such a terrific dance.

Our new group of play-leaders attended their training on Thursday with Mrs. S. Welson and Mrs Cadman and represented our school wonderfully, demonstrating our school values of inclusion, patience, kindness and fun as they explored different activities ahead of becoming our new Key Stage 1 play leadership team. Thank you and congratulations to you all.

Today we have waved our Young Voices choir off as they make their way to Birmingham for their performance later on as part of a huge multi-school choir. We know that they will have a fantastic time, and we look forward to hearing all about it next week.

In our assembly today we heard about some brilliant reasons for our Headteacher's stickers, which this week included for settling brilliantly into our school, for responding well to classroom challenges and expectations, for showing great focus and increased enthusiasm for their own learning and for being a super role model. We also heard how children have impressed their adults with their manners, thoughtfulness and kindness this week. We also said a fond farewell to friends who are moving away, and we wished them all the best in their new schools. Congratulations to you all. We were very proud of each and every one of you.

Please remember that next week we are celebrating World Book Day on Friday 6th March. Our celebrations include children being able to dress up as a favourite character from a story, information text, poem or nursery rhyme (uniform if not wishing to dress up). Monday is the handing-in day for our 'poem/nursery rhyme' in a box or jar competition and our poetry writing competition. We can't wait to see all the entries.

We hope that everyone has a great weekend, and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday.
