Welcome back everyone to our second half-term of the summer. We have had a wonderful first week back and would like to share some highlights of the week with you.
It was so lovely on Monday to welcome everyone back after our half-term break, and we loved hearing all about the places that you had visited and the activities that you had done. This week in school we were hoping to have our Sports Day today. However, the weather has not been on our side! We have all been practising so hard for our events, it was such a shame that we had to postpone. We keep everything crossed that next Friday we are able to join together with everyone from Reception through to Year 6 and celebrate and enjoy our Sports Day races and competitions.
In school, we welcomed Hannah from 'Checkpoint' for an interesting assembly exploring the idea of 'never judging a book by its cover' and our children had some great ideas about how to treat everyone with equality and fairness. Hannah had shown us all how important a message this is by presenting objects in a way which we might not expect, with a box which was beautifully wrapped and looked very exciting, actually containing a potato (not at all what we expected)!
We also welcomed Emma from the Kington Festival Committee to a special assembly where the official Festival Attendants were drawn from a selection of Year 6s who had volunteered. We were pleased to announce that Luke and Kayleb have been chosen and will work alongside Emma to lead the competitors to the start line and award the prizes at the upcoming wheelbarrow race. Congratulations to them both and we know that they will represent our school and the wider community brilliantly.
Today, we were pleased to say 'Well done' to children across school who have been awarded their Head Teacher sticker. The reasons which were shared in the assembly included for working really hard in all subjects, for always being ready, respectful and safe, for being kind to everyone that they work or play alongside, for settling so well into our school and for showing great resilience when working on something which is new or unfamiliar.
Thank you to everyone for their donations today towards the Summer Fair. The Friends group really appreciate your generosity.
We hope that the weather improves over the weekend and that everyone has a lovely time. We look forward to seeing you all on Monday and hopefully at LHS on Friday for Sports Day (we will keep everyone updated).
