Unfortunately, we are having trouble adding our usual selection of photos from this week. The website provider has identified the fault and is working hard to fix it. We hope that by next week we will be back to normal with our pictures.
We welcome you all to our weekly round up of news here at Kington Primary.
It has been another fantastically busy week here at Kington, and we would like to start this week's blog with a huge 'Congratulations' and 'Thank you' to our Year 6 children and team who have all coped so positively with the demands and expectations of the SATs week. We have all been so impressed with how calmly the children have been determined to show their best and the incredible effort that they have put into these assessments. The children also wanted to say a 'Thank you' to all of the adults who have helped them to prepare for the tests and for supporting them during this week but with a particular 'Thank you' to Ms Deans who alongside Mrs Bretherton, has prepared the delicious breakfasts which have set Year 6 up ready for their assessments.
Across school, we have been thinking about the value of cooperation and are really doing our best to show this value at all times. There have been so many beads added to the whole school pot this week, we think that the results for the house competition for May will be very close! A super effort this week in each of our classes.
Year 1 had a brilliant first session of Forest Schools with Vik at the Rec and showed super listening and concentration. They can't wait for their next session!
Year 4 were very proud to have been chosen by the Herefordshire Music Service to be a class who supported interviews for new music teachers and had a lovely time exploring different musical activities with candidates. 'Well done' Year 4 for representing yourselves and our school so well. We know that the Music Service really appreciated your involvement.
Years 2 and 3 have had a very special visitor today who also joined us in our sticker assembly. Imam Soyhab Peerbhai talked to Years 2 and 3 about being a Muslim and the importance of respect and inclusion between different religions. Both classes were very respectful during their visits, and he was so impressed with how much the children already knew about Islam and for the wonderful questions which they asked him with interest and respect. It was also so interesting to hear in assembly about the many different community roles which the Imam carries out in his local community and the importance of being friendly and positive to everyone that you meet whether they are the same or different to you and your experiences.
In our whole school assembly today we have heard the wonderful reasons why children have been awarded the Head Teacher stickers, including some of our youngest children impressing their adults with amazing number work, fantastic reading, creative independent writing and for showing the most impressive manners all of the time. We have also been interested to hear about children who have worked really hard in all lessons, those who are working hard both in school and at home, so much so that they get 10/10 in their spellings every week! There were also children who were rewarded for their positive attitude and enthusiasm towards learning, for joining in lessons really well this week and having their hands up much more, and for brilliant independent writing. Wow, brilliant reasons, 'Congratulations' to you all.
We have also said a massive 'Well done' to the whole of Year 6. Mr Ward-Willis just could not choose only 2 sticker winners this week and so the whole class were awarded one!
We hope that everyone has a lovely weekend, and we hope that there are at least moments of sunshine in between the showers! Take care everyone, and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday, ready for the final week of this half-term.
