Welcome everyone to our weekly catch-up of news about our week in school.

We have had a lovely week across school and enjoyed all of the opportunities to be outside in the moments of beautiful spring-like weather. We are continuing to enjoy our newly opened spaces, and it is still lovely to see the children so happy to be able to see each other in the corridors throughout the day.

We started our week together with our whole school assembly where we thought about our new values of perseverance and courage. Our fantastic house captains awarded the latest housepoint badges and were thrilled to be able to present a variety of different badges. Mrs Bretherton introduced a new feature of our Monday assemblies where adults across school will be sharing one of their favourite poems. We heard the poem 'From a railway carriage', which had been one of Mrs Bretherton's favourite poems as a child, and we all enjoyed the rhythm of the words, which made us think of a train travelling along a track. We look forward to hearing more favourite poems from different adults in school in future assemblies.

On Thursday, we all sent lots of luck to our cross-country team who represented our school at the Lucton School competition and did so well and ran fantastically. We were so proud of their efforts and were excited to hear how much they had enjoyed it despite the mud and rain. The staff who accompanied the team were so proud of their positive attitude and enthusiasm and felt that they had represented our school brilliantly. We were all able to say 'Well Done' in the assembly today where the team were awarded individual certificates.

Today in our headteacher stickers assembly we were all impressed to hear about individual achievements from this week, which have included writing an amazing poem, for being consistently kind, for doing really well at the cross-country, for showing focus and determination and for being a fantastic class member. A huge 'congratulations' to you all. We also said a fond farewell and 'good luck' to our friends who are leaving for new schools and homes and wish them a fantastic start to their new schools.

We also awarded prizes to the winners of the Mother's Day Co-Op Funeral Care colouring in competition with the winners having special gifts to share at home this weekend. All of the entrants received a prize and the judges were very impressed with the effort that had been shown in the colouring.

We have also said an important 'Thank you and Good Luck for the future' to our two fantastic student teachers, Miss Price and Miss Covey, who finish their placement with us today. Nursery and Year 5 will miss them, and we have all enjoyed working alongside them throughout this term.

We hope that you enjoy looking at photographs of some of the learning which has been happening in Year 6 as they have been working on their Victorian-inspired toys and completed a great maths angle trail around school. Thank you Year 6 for being such positive learning role models for the rest of the school.

We would like to thank our fantastic 'Friends' group who oragnised and ran very successful discos last Friday which were really enjoyed by all of the children and raised over £400 towards our playground development fund, which is incredible! They are running our Easter bingo this Friday and we hope to see as many of you there as possible ready to win some Easter eggs and other treats, eyes down for 6pm.

We would like to share with you some of our forthcoming events, which include, on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th March, our annual opportunity for parents to share their child's book at our 'book look' parents' evenings. Letters with further information about this went home yesterday, but if you do have any questions please do see your child's class teacher.

Last week we welcomed Toni from 'Ledbury Poetry Festival' and she explained to Key Stage 2 about a poetry competition which she is running as part of the first Kington Poetry Festival and these need to be with Mrs Welson by Monday please. The theme of the poems should be based on colour but can be in any format or structure.

We hope that everyone has a great weekend and that the weather is kind to us all, and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
