Welcome to our weekly update of news from across our super school. We hope that you enjoy hearing more about the great things we are all doing here at Kington.

It has been another lovely week across our school, and we have continued to be impressed with how positively our school community are coping with the adjustments around school due to the building works.

Last weekend, it was lovely to see some of you at Kington Show, and we were very proud to see all of our entries in the craft competitions and for our VE Day bunting to be used to decorate the whole of the craft and horticultural tent. It has been great to hear about individual achievements at the show throughout the week, including prizes won for baking, artwork, for categories at the dog show and sheep handling.

On Monday, it was very exciting to see our new House Captains carry out their first job, which was to award house point badges to children from across school. They each completed this task brilliantly, and we know that they are going to be a fantastic group of young leaders this year who will inspire and support their house.

On Wednesday, Ms Deans and Mrs Welson attended a special meeting in Hereford, where they were awarded with our school's 'Bronze Award' as a Trauma Informed School. This reflects our school approach to supporting all of our community, including our wonderful ELSA team, our 'Ready, Respectful, Safe' rules and our restorative practice.

Our committed group 'Friends of Kington Primary' held their AGM on Thursday. They were able to reflect on a successful year of fundraising and spending on key resources and experiences across school, including supporting our school trips, purchasing new reading books, contributing towards the pantomime and much more. We would like to say a huge 'Thank you' to all of the committee members and our supporters for their continued efforts. They have exciting events planned for the upcoming year, so please look out for news of these.

Our building work has continued to progress well this week and the children have been excited to see the walls of the extension growing each day, and it is now possible to see the amazing space that will be there. Thank you to our great build team.

Today, in our weekly sticker assembly, we heard about a lovely variety of reasons, including settling well into our year group and working really hard to show our best, for brilliant focus and understanding in maths, for amazing vocabulary when describing a setting, for being a great role model for others, for growing in self-confidence and for doing really well with mastering number. Congratulations to you all.

In our photos this week, you will also see a poster for our upcoming 'open evening'. Please do share this with prospective families and friends.

We hope that you all have a great weekend and look forward to seeing you all on Monday, ready for another fabulous week together.
