Welcome to our weekly catch-up of news from around our brilliant school.
We have had a great week across school enjoying some beautiful sunny autumn days and working hard to earn value beads right up until the end of September, showing the most amazing friendship and kindness towards others. We heard on Wednesday that Scotland has won the first month of our bead competition with 185 beads collected! Congratulations to everyone in Scotland.
In our Monday assembly, we thought with Mrs Bretherton about the importance of 'kind words' and how these support our whole school rules of 'ready, respectful and safe'.
Our Year 6 house captains announced the first of our inter-house competitions and everyone was really excited to hear about the design challenge that they have all been set. As our building project is developing, we are thinking about the design of the nature area which will be next to the new rooms and this is what we would like help from our children to think about.
Our classes from Y1 upwards have been tasked with thinking about what they would like to see in such a natural space and what would help them to learn and explore in this area. Everyone who is interested in entering the competition can have a special design sheet from their class teacher and then plan and draw their own ideas. These should be brought back into school before half-term and handed to class teachers ready for the Eco Council to consider. We can't wait to see the amazing ideas which everyone has.
Our building project continues to take shape and our Governors were really interested to see the changes after their AGM on Wednesday. As you can see from the photos, the rooms are taking shape and you can really start to see how the extension will look. We all particularly like how the brick exterior ties the different parts of our school building together. Thank you again to our build team.
We were so pleased to welcome parents and toddlers to our new group on Monday. Please see the poster in our photos to pass on to anyone who would like to come and join us.
Year 6 have started to run their own class assemblies with all our other classes from Year 1 and did a terrific job sharing with us ideas and messages about friendship. Everyone really enjoyed this opportunity. Thank you Year 6 and Mr. Ward-Willis.
In our assembly today we have heard about a shared focus for next week across school which is to think about the importance of good manners. Everyone in school will be on the look out for amazing manners throughout the school day and will be nominating people to be identified as a fantastic role model for others. We look forward to spotting all of the wonderful manners next week!
We also congratulated our new Year 6 ambassadors who have successfully applied for this position and will be on duty at our upcoming open evening. 'Well done' to you all, we know that you will do a super job representing our school.
We have also heard about the superb individual achievements in each class this week and congratulated people who have produced some beautiful artwork, have worked really well in science, are always being kind and making fantastic choices, are writing with much more confidence and using brilliant vocabulary to communicate their ideas, are always ready to learn, have shared fantastic homework and are showing a mature attitude towards their own learning. Congratulations to you all.
We hope that everyone has a great weekend, whatever the weather brings. Thank you all for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
In addition to our weekly news, we would like to remind everyone that there is a section on our website to support families with any discussions at home concerning online platforms and games.
