Welcome to a new week everyone and the latest update of news from across our super school. 

We have had such a busy and exciting week across school and would like to share some of our highlights with you.

We enjoyed two sticker assemblies last week, and it was so lovely to hear about the reasons. Over the two assemblies, we were so proud to hear about the children who had been chosen for showing our two focus values of ‘friendship’ and ‘kindness’,  for those who had impressed their adults with their focus, effort and enthusiasm, and others who had been identified as positive role models for others: our sticker winners really are terrific ambassadors for our school values.

We have been so pleased to make a start on some of our wider curriculum opportunities with Years 5 and 6 starting their swimming sessions, Year 4 beginning to work with Vik, our Forest School leader, and Reception have begun their regular ‘welly walks’. In addition to the regular opportunities, Year 3 accepted a kind invitation from St Mary’s Church to visit the church and make some Harvest banners both for displaying in the church and for school. Thank you to everyone at St. Mary’s for inviting us to be part of this community project and ‘well done’ to Year 3 for representing our school so brilliantly.

On Wednesday in our assembly, we had a lovely time singing and giving out the prizes for the whole school reading bingo. We were so impressed with the 24 readers who had completed their holiday bingo, and they were all pleased with their creative prizes! We also said ‘Congratulations’ to everyone who entered the Kington Show competitions and everyone who entered was awarded a sticker of participation. We were thrilled that across school we had some winning entries in different competitions, which was lovely to hear about.

We were disappointed for Years 5 and 6 that they did get to complete their walk on Friday due to the weather conditions. However, the plan is for them to enjoy their walk this coming Friday. We look forward to hearing how they get on and about the wonderful sights that they see.

On Friday we were pleased to award stickers to children from Year 1 to Year 4 and the reasons described were fantastic. This week they included for showing really positive friendship qualities, for being really engaged with their own learning, for trying their best to overcome a personal challenge and for impressing everyone with their English and maths. How lovely it was to share this with you all and ‘Well Done’ everyone. We also shared a performance from some brave Year 4s who performed a poem which Year 4 had written as a class about a fox. Everyone was very impressed with their poetry writing skills and their performance.

Don't forget that we have also started our free Monday toddlers group in our beautiful school nursery.

We have been so pleased to welcome Mrs Bretherton back to school today, and we look forward to showing her our best, as we do all the time, whenever she is able to join us.
