Monday 12th October Blog

Welcome to our weekly update from across our fantastic school. We would like to share with you some of our highlights from the past week and remind everyone of some up and coming events.

We started our week with an assembly with Mrs Welson where we thought about our new value of 'Honesty'. We shared a story about a character who struggled with the truth and how, with support and hardwork, this was possible to change. The link for this story is at the bottom of this page. We also congratulated our latest House Point badge winners with a great variety of year groups and badges being celebrated.

On Wednesday, we welcomed Hannah from 'Checkpoint'' who shared with us a new energetic song which everyone really enjoyed and a story from the Bible which is important to her as a Christian. The story was about characters called Ruth, Naomi and Orpah and how important friendship is for them but also the importance of honesty about feelings with your friends. Our volunteer actors did a really good job of helping us all to understand this story.

In our Friday assembly, we gathered to celebrate our Head Teacher Sticker children and listened carefully to the descriptions by class teachers of the reasons why they had been chosen. It was so lovely to hear about children who had been kind and thoughtful friends who are representing our school values in all that they do. A phrase which was repeated for a couple of classes was 'being a ray of sunshine in the class'. We all agreed that this was a super description of children who bring positivity, enthusiasm and a 'can do' attitude to their individual classes. We also heard about children who have taught the rest of their class interesting facts about a topic, others who have demonstrated brilliant listening skills and many who have been showing our 3 school rules: Ready, Respectful and Safe at all times of the day.

We have also been thinking across school about the BBC 500 words competition (Mrs Welson is a volunteer judge) and how exciting it would be for some of our school community to enter. There are posters all around school, and it has a QR code on it for easy access to the competition website.

We have also been sent images of the beautiful Harvest Banners which Year 3 made at St. Mary's. Aren't they wonderful!

We hope that everyone has a lovely week, despite some unsettled weather which we are due, and that we will see some of you at the Open Evening tomorrow.

Have a great week everyone.
