We have been exploring charcoal as an artistic medium, experimenting with different techniques to create a range of tones, textures and marks. We have been learning about chiaroscuro – the use of strong contrasts between light and dark to create depth, shape and atmosphere.

The children enjoyed experimenting with shading, blending and creating highlights to see how light and shadow can transform their artwork.
