Welcome everyone to our last weekly blog for the school year. We have only been together for three days this week but have been able to share significant celebrations and say important 'goodbye and good luck' messages to special people across our school.

We would like to start with a sincere thanks to everyone in our school community for your fantastic support during this term and throughout the whole school year.

We finished last week looking ahead to our Key Stage 2 show 'Pirates of the Curry Bean' and both performances were wonderful! Both the children and the staff team were so pleased with how well the show was received and were really proud of how impressed the super audiences were. We have had many comments about how much people enjoyed the show and how well they thought all of the children did with their super acting and singing. Thank you again to everyone involved in these fantastic performances.

Our week began with our achievement assembly where 2 children from each year group were awarded special certificates for a particularly positive half-term. We celebrated with our 'certificate' children their achievements, which included making fantastic progress in reading, for developing personally in terms of self-confidence and self-belief, for being a wonderful role model and for being a really kind and thoughtful friend to others. 'Congratulations' to you all.

We also heard more about the attendance awards for this term and Year 4 were thrilled to hear that they had won for this half-term and look forward to planning their treat with Mrs. Snow in September. We also congratulated Year 3, who had the best attendance over the whole year.

In the afternoon, we held our important leavers assembly for our year 6 families, and it was lovely to welcome parents to a celebration of this special group of children's time here at Kington Primary. The assembly included the children sharing special memories from Key Stage 2, singing their favourite assembly and summer show songs and sharing a poem which reflected their time throughout our school. In addition to the important memories and reflections, we also celebrated the achievements of two individuals who were awarded our annual 'Values Cup' and 'Jubilee Cup'. The 'Values Cup' is given to pupils who have reflected our school values in everything that they do and are a fantastic role model for others to follow, and we know this will continue at high school.  The 'Jubilee Cup' is given to someone who, throughout their time at Kington, has developed fantastically both academically and personally to represent themselves as a wonderfully rounded young person who we are confident will blossom at high school. What was particularly lovely this year was how happy their peers were when the awardees were announced.

On Tuesday, everyone brought home their book to keep, which has been supported by our community supporter, who has funded the books and also our book bingo for the summer holiday was sent home. The book bingo is to work on during the holidays and should then be returned to new class teachers in September, with readers who bring their bingo back receiving a certificate and being put into a prize draw. Don't forget that Kington library also has their annual reading challenge, which can be used for our reading bingo too! Angela, the librarian who we regularly visit, is ready to welcome children who would like to get involved in this great summer holiday activity. There are also other activities throughout the holidays across Herefordshire libraries which can be learnt about through their website.

In our whole school assembly on Wednesday, we shared the identity of the winners of both the 'Jubilee' and 'Values' Year 6 cups and everyone was thrilled for our two Year 6s. We also heard about the winners of our year-long house values beads competition and were so impressed with the huge number of beads which all four houses had collected over the year. We all said a big 'Well Done' to Scotland, who just collected a few more beads than the next house. Everyone in Scotland was very happy!  We also said an important 'Thank you' and 'Goodbye with lots of luck and love' to Ms Deans, Mrs Hedley and Mrs Gouldby. We will miss them all and look forward to hearing about the exciting things that they are doing in the future. Ms Deans and Mrs Hedley gifted our school a beautiful water feature and garden decorations for our new garden area which will help to make the space even more calming and relaxing for everyone who visits the area.

Don't forget to do your best with your reading bingo activity and bring it back to school in September.

Kington Library has launched the summer holiday reading challenge, which is free to enter, so try and pay them a visit. The reading you do for their challenge can also count for your summer reading bingo!

There are also the holiday clubs running in school during the holidays with both the coding club and Mr Haines' football camp, both of which the information about has been sent out to families.
