In PE, we have been learning how to play Hockey. We have learnt lots of new skills and had some much fun whilst doing so!

We have been learning about Jewish festivals in RE. Some Jewish people take part in the ceremony of Tashlich on Rosh Hashanah. During this ceremony, people symbolically throw their bad deeds into water. We made paper boats and talked about some of the things we might want to say sorry for before floating them away!

Oobleck Fun on Science Day! This fascinating non-Newtonian liquid behaves like a solid when under pressure and a liquid when at rest.

The Roman theme has continued into our English lessons. Here are some pictures of us 'getting to know' the model text by acting it out!

In history we have been learning all about the Romans and today we learnt about Boudicca. The children took turns to ask our very own 'Boudicca's' questions - they did amazingly and asked really thoughtful questions. Thank you very much to our volunteer Boudicca's!

We were lucky to be joined by Mrs Freeman from Herefordshire Road Safety Team. She taught us how important it is to be sensible whilst crossing the roads and some of the dangers that we must look out for. After the lesson, we went out for a walk to put our skills to the test! The children were fantastic and super sensible - well done Year 3!

World Book Day in Year 3! We had so much fun. Activities included: a live Manga lesson with Samuel Sattin, a exciting workshop with The Courtyard, dressing up, buddy reading with Reception.

In art we have been exploring collage and created some fantastic pieces based on the work of Henri Matisse! They are super colourful and vibrant - well done Year 3!

In English, we have been having a super time learning another poem - I am a Roman Soldier written by Josiah Wedgewood. We created our own actions to help us learn the poem and performed them to the class.

In history, we have been diving into our new topic - The Romans. We had to become investigators, and decide whether or not the stories about the creation of Rome were based on historic findings or legends. We had lots of fun investigating and presenting our ideas to the class.

In English we have been studying the poem 'The Romans in Britain' by Judith Nicholls. We put actions to the poem and put on a performance for Year 4. Here are some pictures from the performance.

This term, in computing, we are learning how to programme. We are using Scratch on the Chromebooks. Today, we spent lots of time getting to know Scratch and putting together basic sequences.

In PE, we are working with Mr Spencer on developing our gymnastics skills. We have been exploring lots of different types of movements, rolls and stretches.

In maths, we have been beginning to explore angles. We made our own angle checkers, and went on a hunt around the classroom to find and measure different angles.

We are also happy to welcome Abi, who teaches us cricket on a Tuesday. We have been learning lots of key skills, like catching with big, wide hands and how to hold the bat properly.

This half term, we are really lucky to be joined by Vick who takes us for our forest school lessons. Have a look at what we've been up to so far!

We're back! The start of a brand new year and a new term! We got straight to work on our new maths topic - mass and capacity.

Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas! Here are some lovely pictures of some of our festive activities. We've had lots of fun and enjoyed Christmas party day, our Christmas performance, the pantomime and lots more!

Our festive DT project involved sewing, sticking and stuffing our very own penguin or elf. We worked exceptionally hard and overcame lots of challenges, but we all had lots of fun too!

Super Stonehenge! We worked really hard to produce 3D models of Stonehenge. Parents - why not ask your children what they think Stonehenge was built for?!

SNOW DAY! We have all been captivated by the snow in Kington today. It is the first time some of us have seen snow, so it is extra exciting! Here are some pictures of us enjoying ourselves.

Last week we celebrated our first RE and multi-faith day in school. We had a great day exploring lots of different religions and festivals. In Year 3, we learnt about how Hindus and Sikhs celebrate Diwali and made kites and candles.

We celebrated the first ever Michael Rosen day! We listened to a live lesson with Michael himself, with MC Grammar. We shared some of our favourite Michael Rosen poems and stories, and listened to MC Grammar rapping the Gruffalo.

In history we have been looking at the Stone Age. In our lesson this week, we decided that we would like to compare life today with life in the Stone Age. We looked at the food, houses, clothing and tools that Stone Age people had, and compared it to the ones that we use today. In groups, we made posters and then presented our ideas to the class.

This half term in computing we are looking at stop-frame animations. We started by making our very own flip-books, and have now moved on to using the 'animate' app to plan and make our own digital animations. It's a work in progress, but here are some snaps from our lessons so far! We can't wait to share the finished products with you.

In class, we earn marbles for our class marble jar by showing that we are ready, respectful and safe, and working hard as a team. We have worked so hard this half term that we managed to fill the jar! As a reward, we chose to watch the film adaptation of our class book - The Sheep-Pig by Dick King-Smith. We even had popcorn! Well done, Year 3!

In Art this week, we have been looking at drawing small. This process involves studying the tiny item, drawing for a few seconds and then studying it again. It really helped us to fine tune our studying skills and we took so much care to include super amounts of details.

In computing we have been learning that a computer network is made up of a number of devices. Today, we tested our knowledge of the role of a switch, server and wireless access point by taking part in a role-playing activity. We used string to make up our network links and each of us played a different role in the computer network. We demonstrated how information can be passed between devices and talked about how this is done efficiently.

We had a blast making caves in art this week! It ties in nicely to our Stone Age history topic. We used charcoal to create dark elements and chalk, rubbers and oil pastels to create contrasting light. This process is called chiaroscuro.

Our trip to Kington Court! We visited Kington Court to treat the residents to a special preview of our Harvest Festival song - Thank you for the Harvest. The residents and their families were gathered for Macmillan Coffee Morning and they were happy to join in with our song when we sang it a second time! We were treated to juice and biscuits after too - what a treat!
