Sustainability and being environmentally friendly were the theme of assembly today as the Eco Committee proudly showed us the Green Flag and certificate we have been awarded in recognition of all their hard work and the commitment from everyone in school. We are now officially an International Eco-School. Its fantastic and just need to find a flag pole to fly our flag from.

    We need your help please.

    Year 4's Kington Library Questionnaire

Year 4 children have designed a questionnaire to collect data to analyse as part of their Computing curriculum.

Our task is to analyse and present data using a range of technology of our choice.

Our questionnaire is about the potential closure of the library in Kington.  We would appreciate it if as many people as possible could spend approximately 5 minutes to complete our questionnaire.  Please can you complete it by Monday 2ndMarch?

You can click or scan the QR code below.

Even our youngest children sat for an hour celebrating and congratulating our Achievement Awards. From literacy and numeracy to enthusiasm and determination we were impressed with them all. It was also an opportunity to congratulate the 44 runners who took part in the Lucton Cross Country Competition yesterday. They returned muddy but very happy. The children in Reception returned to class to make pancakes and after selecting their favourite toppings enjoyed eating them. Delicious was the verdict.

We are so proud to have qualified for the hockey, netball and athletics at the Herefordshire Winter Games and to have taken our athletes to compete at The Academy. Although we did not come home with medals and trophies we came away having given our all and achieving such a lot. Semi final placing were amazing. Congratulations to them all. We were lucky to be able to chat with the guest of honour for the day Jack Rutter who following an assault as a teenager suffered major brain damage but returned to his passion for football and is now the Captain of the England Cerebal Palsy CP squad. He has his sights on leading out the GB team at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. He was such an inspiration.

We were delighted to welcome over 40 visitors to our Open Morning. They commented on the calm and productive atmosphere across the school and how well the children engaged and enjoyed their learning. They were pleased to be able to visit all the classes, talk to the children and staff and meet the governors. The children often did not realise that there were visitors in the class as they were so busy. Our School Ambassadors were excellent guides and a great source of information. We were so pleased to be able to share our lovely school with you today.

Mrs Phillips was greeted with much excitement when she visited YearTwo today. They were writing about the Enrichment activities they had enjoyed yesterday; remembering to use connectives, paragraphs and time words. In very little time we had fantastic recounts to read.  The class then surprised the school in assembly with their films about the work they have been doing. We were even allowed to see the very funny ‘out takes’. Playtime saw them exploring, chatting and drawing before their maths session - singing times tables and learning to multiply. They love showing what they know to each other and the adults and challenging themselves to do even better.

This morning some of the children taught us how to say hello in lots of different languages. We learnt a super song too.

Our SMSC week began with Georgie's amazing yoga sessions. Some of the children asked what SMSC meant and we hope that by the end of the week they will know. Simplicity and Thoughtfulness are our values for February and March and we are incorporating them into a simple but thoughtful week.
