Our School Value for May is Cooperation.
Our Core Values: Hope, Trust, Courage & Perseverance, Respect, Cooperation, Responsibility, Kindness & Friendship, Honesty, Peace and Understanding.
We explore our core values in our school and class assemblies and look out for them in our daily practice, earning Values Vouchers and Beads as we go.
We had such a fabulous assembly today to congratulate all of the children for an amazing half term. Each and every one of them have been fantastic in their work, their attitude and their contribution to the school.
We awarded certificates to the children who have been in every day with two of them being lucky enough to be drawn for a prize. They are now on track for 100% for the whole year.
We also awarded prizes to children who were in the lunchtime draw because of their behaviour and kindness and friendship during the lunch break.
Our Christmas Singers were thanked for the pleasure they have brought singing in so many different places over the past two week including last night as part of Kington Community Choir Christmas Concert at St Marys’ Church.
Last but not least we awarded Achievement Certificates to children identified by staff as having made the best of every opportunity and excelled during the past half term.
It has been a really super final day of the term and 2019. We are all looking forward to 2020.
Happy Holiday everyone.
Party Day was even more exciting when we all joined members of Friends of Kington Primary School for the Christmas Raffle. There were prizes to suit everyone and very excited children when their names were drawn. A big thank you to parents, friend and the community for their generosity in donating prizes and buying tickets. It will mean a few extra things for all the children in 2020.
The day ended beautifully with the families of our very youngest children in afternoon nursery joining us to listen to the children sing and act out one of their favourite Christmas storiesWe always wait in anticipation for our youngest children to tell us the story of Christmas and this year they were amazing in their nativity ‘Born in Bethlehem’ which was really magical. They acted, sang and danced so beautifully. The whole school joined with them as they taught us their final song. The Nursery was a very special place this morning. Thank you Nursery and Reception children.
At the end of the day Year One invited their families and friends into school to share the story of the Magic Porridge Pot and some of the other work they have enjoyed this term. They were very proud of their books and telling the story through actions and words was fabulous.
Today we presented Headteacher Sticker Awards in assembly to children for a number of amazing reasons, including our values of friendship, love and peace.
This afternoon KS2 children shared their Carol Concert with families at St Mary's Church, which helped us remember the meaning of Christmas and helped us reflect on our blessings. We look forward to our evening performance at 6 o'clock.
In other news, we celebrated our Year 5 & 6 Indoor Athletics squad, who took part in a cluster event held at Lady Hawkins' School. The teams worked very hard in every event and we are delighted to have qualifed for the School Games in 2020.
Another busy week with the children working so hard and helping each other in such a positive and thoughtful way, especially during our 2nd Enrichment Day.
As we gathered together this morning, the hall was filled by the beautiful sounds of two of our very talented musicians playing the piano.
We started by congratulating our girls' football teams for their excellent performances in our Selina Cup competition. Congratulations to one of our teams for winning the competition and qualifying for the Summer Games.
We also thanked our Year Four class for representing the school so brilliantly at Lady Hawkins’ where they had a fantastic morning learning German and experienced the German culture, including their food. What a super opportunity for them.
The House Captains were very important in assembly today, presenting a number of House Point Badges as well as introducing & demonstrating children's ideas for new playground games in our latest Inter-House Competition. The judges had a hard time choosing a winner; finally deciding that Ireland's game was the most inclusive and adaptable.
Later in the day, Year 4 welcomed parents back to school again, but this time to see some of their amazing gymnastics routines. The children have been working hard on these with our SuperStars coach, Mrs Roberson.
During our second Enrichment Day of the year the children explored the harmony principles that are part of our curriculum, giving the children chance to be inquisitive and creative while developing an awareness of the world in which they live and how important they are now and in the future. It is fantastic to hear their conversations and watch them learning together.
Yesterday Year Two welcomed the robot Gizmo and the Superbook drama company. Gizmo transported the children back to Bethlehem to think about the Christmas story. They enjoyed a day of drama and art and shared their day with the rest of school in their class assembly. They achieved so much and thoroughly enjoyed it.
