Our School Value for May is Cooperation.
Our Core Values: Hope, Trust, Courage & Perseverance, Respect, Cooperation, Responsibility, Kindness & Friendship, Honesty, Peace and Understanding.
We explore our core values in our school and class assemblies and look out for them in our daily practice, earning Values Vouchers and Beads as we go.
It was lovely to see so many children excited today as they awaited their turn to browse the lovely collection of books available. The £2 Book Fair is always popular and so many of the children across school left with a book and a smile on their face.
Remember you can always visit The Children's Bookshelf shop in Hereford. For every ten books bought, the school receives one for free - so thank you!
Today was our third of six Enrichment Days we provide at Kington Primary School. These days allow the children to focus on a particular skill or topic for the day in mixed aged groups. The range of activities is one reason why the day is so popular with our children. We ended the day with an assembly where we listened to songs and the children's poetry.
There was definitely a theme running through assembly today with children being celebrated for amazing and challenging mathematics and others for the help and support they quietly give to other children. Children have been showing their skills and abilities in creative areas of the curriculum as well as the core areas. A really good week with so much going on in and around school, including celebrating Chinese New Year.
This afternoon, two teams of children took part in an inter-school mathematics challenge at Lady Hawkins' school; finishing a respectable 2nd and 3rd! What a brilliant end to a fabulous week.
In assembly today, Mrs Welson told us about two competitions that our children are able to take part in;
Firstly, the BBC 500 Words story writing competition is back. Please see their website, or click our link to find out more information.
Secondly, we are inviting children to show a story or book in a box or jar. You could take your favourite story and show a scene or characters in a jar; or you could put some props from the story into a decorated box. Ask your teachers for more detail.
Today is international Safer Internet Day. Throughout the school, children have developed their knowledge of online safety through discussions, drama, writing and activities. The real focus on this year's workshops was online consent and permission. You can find more information about online safety here.
