In June 1910 – Robert Falcon Scott set sail from Cardiff in an attempt to be the first person to reach the south pole.

You could look on a map or Google Earth to see his journey and take note of the locations he passed.

 

You could find out some more information about the climate in the region and compare that to the temperatures that we have here in the UK.
