Today we are going to learn a new word:

symmetry

Practise saying it with your grown up!

 

Symmetry is a word we use when two things are the same on both sides. Take a look at this video of beautiful butterflies. (Grown ups – don’t worry about ‘assymetrical’!)

Now let’s try making our own symmetrical butterfly. Below is one idea of how to make a butterfly. 

 

We will need some paper and paint. You could use your hands, fingers, brushes or print your pattern on one side of you paper, then fold it over to show your symmetrical pattern. Send us a photo on Tapestry!
