Thursday 22nd March

Today we met several new people;  Firstly Jan and Hannah, who are German students visiting the area and local schools.  Secondly, our children met Paul Baines, who has created a sculpture called 'Road Spill'.  Finally, in assembly, we met some Ancient Egyptians.

It was great welcoming Jan and Hannah to the school, who will be back again tomorrow to spend time with Year 5 & 6 and Nursery.  Today they spent time with 3 & 4 and 1 & 2.  It was great seeing the children ask so many questions and learning new words - our visitors were very impressed.

Paul Baines's piece of art was a great inspiration as we have set our own challenge for our children over the Easter holiday to create their own piece of art using recycled materials.  We can't wait to see what the children come up with!  All of the materials Paul used in his work were found in and around Kington and it was an interesting wake-up call for many.

Year 4 shared a very funny assembly today in which they shared with the school how people were mummified in Ancient Egyptian times.  The children did a great job at entertaining the school through their acting and their catchy Tutankhamun song.  Year 3 are going to be sharing some more Egyptian work after the holiday.
