Today we were overwhelmed by the support and donations made by children, parents and staff towards our MacMillan cake morning.  Everybody donated generously and were able to enjoy a delicious treat and a drink.  Thank you to everyone for your support.  So far we have already raised over £200!

    Wednesday 23rd September

We were joined in assembly today by Claire, Kayleigh and Claire’s beautiful guide dog Rosie to talk about the hope Rosie and her other guide dogs have given Claire since losing her sight at eighteen. Our values for this term of Hope and Responsibility really came to life as Clare talked about the shared responsibility they have for each other and Clare’s hope that everyone who would benefit from a guide dog could have one. Rosie was fantastic and when her harness was removed and she was not working the children were able to give her a well deserved pat.

Meanwhile out in the playground the Eco Committee were busy making a Mini Beast Hotel with all the exciting materials kindly donated by parents. The children even found the Hotel’s first customers who now have a great room for the night, or two.

Year Five and Year Six headed off this morning with other walkers as part of Kington Walking Festival 2015. Today celebrates the opening of a new 80 mile walk called Wyche Way Walk with the children walking just the first part before stopping for a well deserved picnic. The idea for the route was first considered in the 1970's and recently completed by Mr Guy Vowles who was here today to lead the walkers. The children will map read along the way and enjoy beautiful weather and stunning scenery.

Seventeen Year Six pupils gave fantastic speeches to support their desire to be this year's House Captains. It was such a difficult choice for the children but congratulations to our new Captains for 2015-2016. We also celebrated the first of the Headtecher Awards for the new year with a wide range of great achievements. Running Club started with 48 runners having a good jog around the Recreation ground. A good first week back.

A super start to the new academic year with the children ready and eager to learn. They are already working with a real focus and enjoying sharing their learning with each other and staff. School is once again vibrant with the voices of the children and their positivity. We are well on the way with our 'Values' for this term of Hope and Responsibility.

Staff have enjoyed the first of two training days in school with a session on 'real PE' which looks at both a Fundamental Movement Programme and Multiple Abilities to support attainment and aptitude in sport. A great day which we will be incorporating into our PE sessions for the children from Nursery through to Year Six.

We hope that the children enjoy their first day back as much as we have. See you all on Monday 7th September.
