Reverend Ben joined us today to introduce himself and to congratulate the children who had really impressed us with their work and their attitude to learning and school life. Congratulations to them all. Reverend Ben will welcome us to St Marys' for our Harvest Assembly next Tuesday.

We joined with Kington Walking Festival for a second year with an even more challenging  walk. The Walking Festival arranged a special guide and provided a bus to take Year Five and Year Six to Stanner for a five mile walk back to Kington. A very happy group of children and adults headed off this morning and had a challenging but enjoyable five and a half mile hike. Many thanks to Tony, Keith and Helen from the Walking Festival.  We had a brilliant day!

Please log on to Year 5's class page to find further photos of our great day out in the hills.

We had a super assembly about some of the letters that St Paul wrote. The children had great fun acting out some of the roles.

Our new House Captains have also introduced the first challenge of the year, an Inter House Art Competition celebrating 100 years of Roald Dahl.

We are delighted that the Art Department at Lady Hawkins’ are going to help us with the very difficult job of judging.

Watch the Blog for the results and news on the next challenge.

All the staff had such a difficult job choosing the children for our first Headteacher Awards of the new year. Everyone has really focussed, settled into their new classes and made super progress already. Congratulations to them all.

The sunshine and the smiles from the children have made our first few days back very special. Everyone has started the year ready and eager to learn and already enjoying their achievements. Our new bright and spacious hall has made assembly and lunchtime a real pleasure too.  We are looking forward to our youngest children starting back with us tomorrow.

House Captain elections were held today with amazing speeches and really difficult decisions for all the children. Every vote really did count and we even had to have a re-count. We now have eight very proud and very positive House Captains who are already planning some challenges and ways to support and help their houses. We welcomed two new members of staff today, our School Games Co-Ordinator and our Superstars Sport teacher, which made the day even more memorable.
