Today, the whole school came together to celebrate World Food Day.  Year 6 & 5 shared some interesting facts about the world, before each class shared some things they had learned about particular countries.  Everyone was then able to pick some food to try from over ten different countries.  We were all impressed how everyone tried and experienced the new foods.  We would like to thank Mrs Bachmann for organising the day and Friends of Kington Primary School for buying all of the ingredients.  Finally we would like to thank all the other parents and helpers involved, including Charles, a head teacher from a school in Uganda, who has been visiting our school.

Many of our Year 5 & 6 children went on our residential trip to London.  Everyone had a fantastic time and we all have a bank of memories to keep and share.  The weather was great and the children were too.  Our photos show the amazing things we got up to; exploring the Science and History Museums, taking in the sights on the coach and London Eye, going back in time at Drury Lane Theatre, dining out at the Rainforest Café, appreciating the art at Tate Britain and not forgetting the fantastic Lion King show.  Thank you again to everyone involved for making this happen!

A great end to the week with several celebrations and the School Summer Fayre.

Headteacher Stickers went to proud children and ranged from amazing writing to being skilful at Rounders.

We also said well done to the children whose designs for Uncle G’s Ice Cream Parlour (part of The Lion Restaurant) were chosen for a prize. The overall winning entry will soon become Uncle G’s official pot design.

Scotland has had a very successful week as they became the winning house in the Sweet Pea growing competition.

We were thankful that the rain stayed off for us to enjoy a fantastic Sports Day.  We witnessed some amazing balancing, throwing, jumping and running (including the adults!). Congratulations to all the children for their fantastic efforts and achievements. Medals were presented to individual class members for sporting achievement and commitment throughout the year with trophy's for three children who have had an exceptional all round sporting year. The Victrix and Victor Ludorum awards are kindly donate and presented by Kington Festival Committee. When all the scores for the day were counted we celebrated success for Ireland-KS1 and Scotland-KS2. It was very close!

The event was also a way to support the British Heart Foundation as all the children warmed up at the start of the day skipping to raise money for this important charity.

Congratulations to Kington Festival Carnival Princess's and Prince for 2014. Emma presented them with their flowers today and they are looking forward to being an important part of the Festival celebrations.

We have also opened our stamp collection box to support Kington Lions. All used stamps gratefully received.

We are pleased to be able to offer a fun Multi Summer Holiday Course this year. Aaron from SuperStars spent a great day with us introducing some of the activities to the children and telling them a little bit about the week.

Thankfully the weather was kind and we were able to set off on our Sponsored Walk and Read. The children had a good walk whichever route they took and returned exhausted but happy.

Achievement Certificates were a fantastic start to being back, celebrating the wide range of things the children had achievement over half a term. They reflect hard work, positivity and  determination along with all the Values that we know are important for our school and for happy successful young people.
