As part of their history topic on Victorians Year Five and Year Six set off early to Blists Hill. They started the day in role looking very solemn in their great outfits but did not keep in up for long as it was all smiles as the coach left Mill Street. A super day ahead for them.

Year Five and Six are visiting Blists Hill on Friday so Achievement Assembly started the week rather than finishing it. What a lovely celebration of so many individual achievements. Congratulations to them all.

Our new Road Safety Officers were appointed today so we look forward to competitions, assemblies and lots more.

Today also saw the start of Cycling Proficiency for our oldest children. We are glad that they will be extra safe on the roads after passing their training.

Another really difficult choice for staff this week as all the children have worked so hard. Congratulations to everyone especially the Headteacher Sticker award winners and our hockey team who have qualified for the Herefordshire Winter Games in January. Fantastic.

Year Three presented a great assembly today sharing with us all the work they had done with Jo from Concern Universal. We all certainly now know the importance of hand hygiene and how to really get rid of those nasty germs. A fantastic link to ‘Global Hand Washing Day’.

Sunshine and the first of this year’s Enrichment Days saw the children having great fun with music, art, animation, autumn walks, music, cookery, gardening, orienteering, thought provoking debates and yoga. The children from across the ages really benefit and enjoy working together.

Concern Universal visited school to teach Year Three how to be Hygiene Hero’s. They talked about how germs can carry and how important it is to use soap when washing their hands. They learnt about parts of the world that do not have soap and water and how they keep themselves safe. The children will tell us all about it during their assembly next week.

We had a lovely Harvest Celebration at St Mary's Church with each class either singing, story telling or reading a poem. Donations for our local Kington Larder were gratefully received and we all joined Year Six for 'Harvest Rock and Roll', complete with actions.

It was a mathematics celebration this morning with the majority of Headteacher Stickers being awarded for maths work alongside friendship and persistent hard work awards. We were also able to say well done to our young gymnasts who had spent a morning at Lady Hawkins’ working with children from all the local schools on developing their skills.
