We have said goodbye to our lovely guinea pigs today as they headed off very happily to their new 'forever home' with one of our lovely families.  The children (and Ms Deans!) have loved looking after them when they visit the ELSA room and they have been a very special part of our school for the past year.

Congratulations to the sticker winners today - it's always a lovely way to end the week and today was no exception. From talking more confidently; having a supper attitude to their swimming; asking thoughtful questions; showing our values in their work or play to welcoming visitors to our school; we are proud of you all!

Thanks all and have a good rest over the weekend.

Our Nursery and Reception children had a lovely treat this week as Sam and Heather McLeod from Pentre Farm kindly brought some of their animals to visit and show us how to care for them.  The children were absolutely delighted and we are so grateful to Sam and Heather for bringing them along.

Congratulations to our sticker winners today.  Even though Year 3 and 4 were out on their Swansea trip, we were still able to fill the benches at the front!  Well done to everyone for demonstrating such lovely hard-working attitudes and for listening really well to those around you.  Year 5 also entertained us with their Victorian facts they have found out from their recent history topic.

We will add some photos of the Egyptian Centre trip to Swansea when the weary travellers return but in the meantime, have a lovely weekend and let's hope the sunshine lasts for a bit longer!

We started this week with Friday's usual Headteacher's Sticker assembly as there was so much excitement with the sponsored Bunny Run on Friday!  Each class took part in a run either round the Rec or the playground which saw them running lots of laps and enjoying raising money for the Friends of Kington Primary School.  Well done to everyone who took part or supported the event and thank you so much to our hard-working Friends who sold all the bunny ears and set up the course.

It was lovely to celebrate our children's achievements in today's assembly. Year Four have started our class assembly season with a super musical performance on their ukuleles and their Ancient Egyptians song.  The stickers were awarded for many reasons as usual including some Year Six running teammates looking after each other and spurring their friends on to keep going. We've also said well done to lots of children who are working hard on their phonics or writing skills and to those who are spotted always doing the right thing and setting a great example to those around them. Well done everyone.

It was lovely to share Aria in Year One's special award for entering a Blue Peter book review competition which has earned her a much coveted Blue Peter badge - a very special thing indeed. Thank you for sharing this with us Aria and your fabulous artwork - enjoy the free entry into all the amazing events that it brings you too.

We held our first maths workshops for our Year One parents last week (thank you Mrs Roberts-Powell) which was really well-attended and equally enjoyed. Practising any skills such as maths, reading or phonics at home is vital at any age and the children loved playing maths games with their adults so they can continue embedding their learning at home. We hope to continue these workshops with other younger year groups soon so please keep an eye out.
