Sat 27 May 2023 Mrs Bretherton

We start with a belated 'well done' to our Headteacher sticker winners from last week, many of whom were demonstrating our cooperation value through their work or play.  There were also lots of children working really hard to learn their times tables and practising their reading at home which then helps them so much in their other subjects too.

We also had a great day last Tuesday working Captain Splat who helped to reinforce important messages around online safety and nice behaviour through drama. We clearly have lots of budding actors in our midst and it came together well as a play for our special guests, Year 2.

This week has been another super-busy week - Tag Rugby tournament at Luctonians, Enrichment for Years 1 to 6, Hay Festival for Year 3 to 6, Reception's exciting trip to The Small Breeds Farm Park, Red Ridge information meetings - I think we have all earned a half term break!

As well as our amazing certificate awardees today, our Achievement assembly today was very busy as we welcomed Emma Hancocks from the Kington Festival Committee to help pick out the special attendees for the wheelbarrow race on Saturday 10th June. Our Prince is yet to be announced but congratulations to Leah, whose name was picked out of the hat. Thank you to all the Year 6 pupils who volunteered too.

The attendance award for this last half term was won by Year 6 with a very impressive rate of over 97%. Lots of other year groups close behind too!

And finally, it was our Mr Lam's last day with us today as he is moving on to a new job. Mr Lam has been a wonderful part of our team and has always been ready to help absolutely anyone.  We will miss you Mr Lam but we send you with our huge thanks and warmest best wishes in your new adventures!

Have a good half term everyone.

Fri 12 May 2023 Mrs Bretherton

We had rather a lot of stickers given out this week and all very much-deserved! Lots of teachers nominated children that have shown our value of cooperation throughout the week as well amazing reading, super maths vocabulary, trying their best, offering to help adults set up a classroom, brilliant focus and super tidying up!  Well done all.  A special mention and well done to the Year 6 pupils and our lovely staff who have coped superbly with a tricky week of assessments which children across the country are doing. We are so proud of how positive and focused they were as well as how hard they have worked.  You have definitely proved yourselves to be great role-models and have done it all to the best of your ability - we could not ask for more.  The bacon and egg sandwiches provided by Ms Deans definitely helped too!

    Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Fri 05 May 2023 Mrs Bretherton

We were a sea of 'red, white and blue' in assembly today as we all learnt more about the Coronation and King Charles III. The children were fantastic at sharing lots of information they already knew too. It was lovely for some of our Year 4 children to spend some time with the staff and residents at The Garth this week too - making biscuits and crowns to share.  The classes all had a festive lunch in their classrooms today too which looked like a lot of fun as I visited everyone.

Well done to our science buggy competition winners from across the school and we hope you enjoy your wonderful science kits. It was a very difficult choice for the staff who had to decide so everyone had a certificate for taking part.  Thank you for producing such amazing space buggies for us all to enjoy!

We've got two weeks of Headteacher Sticker winners to celebrate in this blog today. As usual, the reasons are just lovely to hear all about in the assemblies, with many mentioning children who are demonstrating the values of 'respect' and 'cooperation'.  Well done to everyone and have a good Bank Holiday weekend - we will see you on Tuesday.
