  • Happy Half Term

Fri 22 Oct 2021 Mrs AC Phillips

Seven wonderful weeks of watching the children settle into their new classes with such joy, enthusiasm and love of learning. They are still adapting to a different way of being and we sadly are not able to do many of the things we would like to do but staying safe and well is so important for us all.

We swapped the weekly Headteacher stickers for our half termly Achievement Certificates today. The children were delighted, and in many cases totally surprised. In every class we recognised everything that every child had achieved over the seven weeks. They are all amazing.

Year Five had perfect weather to be able to invite their families to school to share bread and soup. The soup recipes were based on WW1 research that linked to their topic and gave the children the opportunity to cook, taste and share. It was a lovely morning.

Happy Half Term holiday everyone and thank you.

  • Adaptation and Apples!!

Fri 15 Oct 2021 Mrs AC Phillips

We have had another fabulous week in school. Our first Enrichment Day of this year looked at our Harmony Principle of Adaptation while also linking with National Apple Day.

The children have been practical, creative, imaginative and really thoughtful. We have enjoyed a range of activities and it has given the children a real opportunity to discuss and debate. The children have been amazed at how animals adapt to their environments in order to keep themselves safe and in relation to the way that the climate has changed. Others have looked at the wide range of apples that are harvested in Herefordshire and those that pressed apples last week had chance to taste the apple juice they produced. WW1 soup was made using an original apple recipe. Autumn walks and incredible art work added to the day.

It was one of the most challenging weeks for staff to choose their children to be awarded Headteacher Stickers. Friendship and supporting others in their learning was a strong feature this week along with ‘thinking hard, trying hard’. All of the children across school were able to identify something that they had achieved this week that they were proud of and we learnt to sign ‘amazing’ to celebrate another great week.

  • Autumn Harvest

Fri 08 Oct 2021 Mrs AC Phillips and Mr D Perkins

We have really enjoyed our Autumn Harvest Week. There will be more photographs to enjoy on class pages but here you can see what fun some of oldest children had with their Conker Challenge and Apple Pressing adventure.

We were also delighted to be joined by Reverend Linda and Little Ben who zoomed in from St Marys’ Church to celebrate with us. We learnt a little bit about Harvest in Italy which is where Little Ben’s family live. It is a shame that we could not take our Harvest Celebrations to the church this year but this was a great way to share the day.

The children being awarded Headteacher Stickers have really enjoyed the extra activities this week and risen to challenges as well as producing outstanding work. Some of the staff used words like ’blown away’ and ‘amazed’ to describe their achievements. Friendship and collaboration was also celebrated.

Thank you everyone. We are looking forward to next week and our Adaptation and Apple Enrichment Day.

  • September Spirits

Fri 01 Oct 2021 Mrs AC Phillips and Mr D Perkins

The weather has certainly not dampened the spirits of the children this week who have enjoyed splashing in the rain and running through the leaves.

We celebrated a really wide range of achievements with this week’s Headteacher Stickers. The children's achievements covered subjects from PE to Science with the quality of their work really standing out. Staff talked about the children’s incredible focus and love of learning. The children have been quietly working hard and having fun, even with really tricky square numbers and handball!!

Our new House Captains introduced the first challenge of the year – a bread baking challenge. The children will be given more information next week ready to start baking during half term.

Preparation are also under way for next week’s Harvest Day in school.

The children have certainly welcomed October 2021 in such a positive way. Congratulation and thank you everyone.
