Year Six entertained us this morning in their farewell leavers’ assembly and made us laugh and cry!  We were able to wish them every success as they move onto High School and thank them for being an amazing year group. We shared with school the award winner of the Jubilee Cup presented yesterday when parents were invited in to share the farewell entertainment. Congratulations and thank you to everyone.

We also had some lunchtime visitors when two herons and Old Uncle Geoffrey had a wander around the playground. If you are at any music festivals over the summer watch out for them.

We wish everyone a happy holiday and look forward to seeing you in September. Don’t forget to watch the blog for news even if you have left us.

Angela and Sandra joined us today to tell the children all about the exciting events in the library during the holiday. To celebrate the 100 anniversary of Roald Dahl the summer reading challenge is called The BIG Friendly READ and the Kington library drop in on Friday 12th August will be a chance to have some fun making things inspired by the Roald Dahl books. Angela read one of her favourite stories in assembly and we sung our ‘reading song’

Our final Achievement Assembly of this school year celebrated children who have worked consistently throughout the year, made super progress and supported others in their learning. We talked about their positive attitude and the interest they show in everything. They are all such good role models. We also congratulated all the children in school on another great year.

Year Six made the most of the lovely weather during their very wet leavers’ party. Plenty of water games, water balloons and lots of water pistol, big and small, added to the fun.

What a fun day in celebration of everything the children have achieved, the hard work they put into everything and our excellent Ofsted report. The staff and Friends of Kington Primary School contributed to and organised the day with all the children enjoying a range of activities a ‘cake break’ and a raffle to end the day. The staff baked cakes and provided all the raffle prizes and equipment and the children provided happy faces and real appreciation in return. We even had sunshine.

It is the first of two Induction Mornings today with the children moving onto their new classes in preparation for September. The Year Six Ambassadors took each class for their visit and the children are looking forward to another morning next week. Year Six found an empty classroom before heading to the Recreation ground for the morning.

A busy week at school as over fifty of our children took part in the Herefordshire Summer Games competing in a range of sports and activities and having a super time. All the children received their certificates in assembly today along with our Headteacher Sticker award winners. All this and our end of year show Alice in Wonderland. It is all very exciting.

We enjoyed a really super show with two exciting and fun packed performances. The costumes and set design brought the story of Alice in Wonderland alive with the children performing brilliantly. The audience were encouraged to join in and a good time was had by all.
