  • Thoughtfulness

Fri 29 Mar 2019 Mrs Ac Phillips

So many of the children receiving Headteacher stickers this morning have been reflecting our value for the month, thoughtfulness, in their work and their contribution to school. The quality of their work and the way they carry out their responsibilities was celebrated. All of the classes were described as shining stars which is a super way to end the week. Congratulations everyone.

Yesterday evening we had the second of our joint school sessions at Queenswood. We have been blessed with two beautiful Spring evenings to explore and be creative. Thank you to the families who took part it was amazing. There are some more photographs to follow.

  • Show Time!

Thu 28 Mar 2019 Mr Perkins

We held two assemblies today that were both fantastic performances and showcased the wonderful creativity we encourage in our school.

Firstly the school came together to see who would win the Inter-House trophy for a group dance.  The judges found it a very difficult task to choose and our winners this time were Ireland House!

At the end of the day, we came back together to enjoy Year 4's concert.  The children have been learning to play the 'DooD' since September with Miss Sherwood and it was a real treat to share how much progress the children have made with the rest of the school.  Thank you too, to those families who were able to come and show their support to the Year 4 children.

  • What a Week!

Thu 21 Mar 2019 Mrs AC Phillips

We have had another great week in school enjoying such a brilliant array of activities. On Tuesday we had the weekly visit from our 'Grand Friend'who shares the joy of the Nursery with the children as part of a project with The Garth. We unfortunately did not manage to capture the moment when he became Goldilocks in the role play area. It is a fabulous project linking the generations.

Wednesday saw the school filling with words and laughter as we welcomed comic writer, cartoonist, poet and performer, Mike Barfield. As well as two highly entertaining assemblies he worked with all the children across the school with amazing results.

Thursday sees the start of another brilliant project, Values in the Forest, linking schools and families from across Herefordshire. We gather at Queenswood to take part in Forest School activities and consider the value of our natural surroundings. Such a lovely, and valuable, experience for everyone.

The week comes to an end with Headteacher Stickers which, after such a great week, are almost impossible for staff to select. Our children are so engaged in their learning and supportive of our ethos. They are a delight.

  • Comic Relief

Fri 15 Mar 2019 Mrs AC Phillips

The children wore something red and brought in pennies to create a Kington Primary School face complete with its own red nose. In assembly we talked about why we were raising money and shared Farhad's story. We sang and danced with the dancing carrying on out of assembly and into the playground. We will share our total with you next week, when all those pennies have been counted! and added to all of your other generous donations.

Thank you to everyone for helping make a real difference.

  • Achievements and Holiday Fun

    Thu 14 Mar 2019 Mrs A Phillips

It is going to be a slightly different day tomorrow, as we take part in Comic Relief, so today we celebrated the children receiving their Headteacher stickers. Many of them have been reflecting the value of this month, Thoughtfulness, as well as working really successfully in a range of curriculum areas. Congratulations to them all.

Our Superstar holiday providers joined us this afternoon to tell the children all about the activities they could take part in as part of the Easter holiday club. We were delighted that Sammy the Star was able to visit too.

  • World Book Day

    Fri 08 Mar 2019 Mr D Perkins

The last few days have been so much fun, as we celebrated World Book Day in school with a Paddington theme.  In assembly today, the adults in school had to make some extremely difficult decisions as to whose entry for 'Book in a box or jar' competition would earn first place.  You can see all our photos of the entries in our Gallery.

On Thursday, we welcomed Alex Thimm and two of his BA Photography students from Hereford Art College. As part of their degree course, they are capturing the life of Kington, which included a visit to our school.  Thank you very much for including us in your project. Year 6 also made the whole school laugh with their World Book Day themed assembly, which saw Goldilocks in court accused of causing problems at the home of the Three Bears.

We congratulated a number of children in assembly today for earning their house point badges, as well as awarding children with Head teacher Awards.

A very busy, but exciting few days!
