  • Amazing Year Six

Tue 20 Jul 2021 Mrs ACL Phillips

The final two days of term were a time to celebrate Year Six and wish them all the best as they move onto High School. We will miss them all but know that they are ready for their next adventure.

They had great fun, after school on Monday, being together and getting very wet before a fabulous BBQ.

Today we were able to gather for a final assembly with the rest of the school sending their good wishes virtually. We even manged the traditional archway to send them on their way with every good wish and our thanks for being amazing.

Across school we celebrated the children being awarded the final Achievement Certificates of the year. All the children have worked hard, not just this term but throughout the year. So many could have been chosen by staff.

We are so proud of all our children and today was an opportunity to congratulated them all and reflect on a super year, despite the challenges.

We wish everyone a happy summer holiday and look forward to the new year with plenty more celebrations.

Thank you to everyone who makes Kington Primary School the very special place that it is for us all.

  • Final Friday

Fri 16 Jul 2021 Mrs AC Phillips and Mr D Perkins

We thanked our brilliant House Captains and Vice House Captains as they presented their final badges of the year and their time with us. Many of the badges were awarded to Year Six who have worked really hard over the past few weeks to reach their next target. It was great to be able to say a zoom goodbye and good luck to all of our special 2021 Leavers.

Headteacher stickers celebrated incredible children across the school and some of our youngest children shared their special moment with Mrs Roberson who is leaving us today to concentrate on her studies. We will miss her.

It was certainly a hot day for some of our year six pupils to take part in Bikeability but they did really well and we are delighted that it will help them keep extra safe on the roads.

It really was a busy but fabulous final Friday.

  • What a Week, amazing. .

Fri 09 Jul 2021 Mrs AC Phillips and Mr D Perkins

We were delighted to be able to hold a sports day for all the children even though, as with so many things, it had to be very different this year. The children loved their races in class bubbles and we were able to bring our Key Stage Two children outside to share their event with Moovin, the Herefordshire School Games mascot. Movvin presented the Victrix and Victor Ludorum Cup to our two Year Six pupils who have shown their amazing talents across a range of sports as well as coaching qualities and a positive attitude over the years. We once again thank Emma Hancocks for providing us with the Cups. Each class awarded a special School Games Medal that reflected the games values.

Our Sports Council and House Captains worked hard to make the event a success and staff are hoping to put some photographs on individual class pages.

We had a great celebration assembly this morning congratulating the children on their work and the many values that they show. House Captains awarded house badges from the first blue badge right through to a bronze star.

We were also able to announce the house winners of KS2 Sports Day. It was one of the closest results we have seen with England lifting the trophy. We congratulated everyone because they all competed so brilliantly.

Children also had a taste of their new class for September with the Year Six pupils visiting Lady Hawkins’ for an Induction morning.

A busy but exciting week. Congratulation and well done to everyone

  • Harmony Week

Fri 02 Jul 2021 Mrs AC Phillips and Mr D Perkins

We have had such a lovely week in school thinking about Harmony and how everything works together, especially in nature. There have been so many examples of the children exploring their environment around school, enjoying forest schools, creating a pond, making and creating, writing the most incredible poems and so much more.

Year Five and Year Six certainly learnt so much about themselves and others in the most amazing outdoor situation at Oaker Wood.

We hope you enjoy a taste of the week in our photo slide show below.
