  • Summer Holidays Arrive

Fri 19 Jul 2019 Mrs AC Phillips

We have had a busy couple of days saying farewell to the old academic year and looking forward to the new one. We congratulated over seventy children for 100% attendance this term with nine of them achieving  100% for the entire year which is amazing. Our final achievement assembly recognised children for supporting the school values alongside being such fantastic role models with their work and their contributions to school. It was also time to say thank you to children who have received a Green Card for an amazing attitude at lunchtime. There were lots of names in the draw which is wonderful and we thank them all.

Our final celebration of the day was with Year Six who entertained us and received our best wishes and thanks for being incredible. The Jubilee Cup was presented to one pupil for their exceptional time throughout school. We acknowledged that it was such a difficult decision because they have been brilliant and we will miss them all. We sang our 'Well Done' song to them wishing them all the very best at High School.

  • Exciting Visitors

    Tue 16 Jul 2019 Mrs A Phillips

We had such an exciting day today. It was our final Enrichment Day of the year and we managed to squeeze in a visit from William the Bull and our local librarian. William is the first of eight wire sculptures being created as part of the Herefordshire Schools recycling scheme. He arrived to receive the bottle tops that the children have been collecting and deliver some important buckets for us to recycle other items, starting in September. The children had written their name on a bottle top and certainly helped William on the way to being full. We are looking forward to seeing all the sculptures as they appear around Herefordshire.

Our lovely local librarian helped us to celebrate fifty years since the first moon landing and introduced the children's summer competition. There is a great Space Chase reading challenge, Space Chase craft activities and other fun surprises. Assembly finished with a great story. A super day and please visit the library and keep recycling.

  • Year Six Leavers' Party

    Mon 15 Jul 2019 Mrs E Bretherton
What a perfect way for Year 6 to end a warm Monday at school - with a water fight!  Brilliant fun all round for everyone and thank you to Mr Ward-Willis, Ms Loxton and Mrs Joyce for organising the fun and games as well as the party feast afterwards.
  • Headteacher's Stickers

    Fri 12 Jul 2019 Mrs E Bretherton
We decided to make the most of the sunshine and share a photo of our proud sticker winners outside today.  From excellent sport skills to wonderful acting, dancing and singing, all the teachers have been so impressed by the values that these children have demonstrated this week. Well done everyone.
  • School in a Box

    Thu 11 Jul 2019 Mrs A Phillips
We had an incredible assembly today when Tony and Keith from Kington Lions shared with us a fund raising project that they have been involved with. Linking with UNICEF they are providing the most amazing boxes that will allow 40 children to be educated. In some places the box will be the children's school with the resources allowing them to be taught and to enjoy learning with vital equipment. If they are lucky enough to have a school shelter or building the boxes will be used to set up a class room. It made us think about the things that we have and reflect on our wish that every child should be happy, healthy, safe and educated. Thank you Kington Lions.
  • Sport, Safety and Sunshine!

    Fri 05 Jul 2019 Mr D Perkins

It seems there's so much going on in school that it is hard to keep the blog up to date!

We sent a number of teams to the Summer Games in Hereford last week, who represented us fantastically in a range of sports including athletics, tag-rugby, girls football and lacrosse.

Children in Key Stage 2 were also excited to host an assembly from the Google Internet Legends team.  It was full of energy along with a number of really important reminders about how best to behave online.

Finally, we have been very fortunate to have the sunshine over the last week, which ended with our Summer Fair.  It was so nice to see the playground full of families enjoying themselves in the sun.  Thank you again to our Friends Committee who put a lot of work into the event.  The money raised is so important for subsidising all the other amazing things we do at our school and nursery.
