Thank you everyone for getting into the 'silly' spirit today to help us raise money for Children in Need. Together, we raised over £200 and enjoyed some very colourful outfits!

We were very proud to be part of the Kington Remembrance parade this weekend and our Year 6 pupils represented the school brilliantly. Thank you to those that came along and laid the wreath that our Friends of KPS had generously donated.

Year Four and Reception have been getting out and about this week, setting fires in Forest School and going on a welly walk to look for sticks so they can help one of the little pigs to build his house.  They had a very successful trip!

And finally, congratulations to our sticker winners today - the teachers all found it hard to choose just two from each class!

Our Year 6 children led our KS2 assembly today to mark Remembrance day. After sharing their own evacuee diaries and letters from the battlefield (written in their creative writing lessons), they recited 'In Flanders Fields' by John Macrae followed by The Last Post and a two minute silence.  Thank you to Year 6 pupils and staff for sharing their thought-provoking assembly with us.  We were pleased to welcome some Year 6 parents into school to share it too; it was a great chance for our children to practice their public-speaking skills.

Our younger children have also marked the occasion by sharing stories and taking part in a minute's silence together as well as producing some lovely art work.

The Kington Remembrance service and parade will be held this Sunday at St Mary's Church from 10am and we have some very proud children who will be representing our school in the parade.

Fri 04 Nov 2022 Mrs Bretherton

What a lovely day to end the week! Today was the Mitchell Haymer tournament that our PE coordinators Mr Ward-Willis and Mrs Welson work so hard to organise for a group of local schools. As the sun shone, our teams of Year 5 and 6 children got stuck into their netball and football games and enjoyed the experience of taking part in lots of matches. Everyone played well and showed great competitive spirit as well as being very excited, especially as one of our netball teams came joint first!  Well done to all and huge thank yous go to Mr Ward-Willis, Mrs Welson, the talented and brilliant young leaders from LHS as well as a thank you to LHS for allowing us to share their school grounds for the morning.

On Thursday, we were held an assembly, joined by Mrs Phillips, to say a heartfelt thank you to Mr Carl Yeomans who has been one of our hardworking governors and, most notably, our Chair of Governors for 22 years. The children and staff were able to hear all about the many achievements that the governing body have had over the years, led by Mr Yeomans, and express their gratitude by presenting him with some blue and yellow flowering plants for his garden.

And finally, just some of our hardworking children were awarded Headteacher Stickers today for putting in huge amounts of effort with their handwriting, reading, number bonds and being really engaged with their learning - to be name but a few.  Well done all.

We wish you all a happy weekend and stay safe if you are enjoying firework displays or bonfires.
