On the final day of the month where we have been thinking carefully about our value of Responsibility we celebrated the children who have reached the next important goal on their House Point Cards as well as children from across the school who have shown a particular strength. We talked about independence and how children are quietly trying to improve both their learning and the learning of others. Well done everyone. Another Headteacher Sticker Assembly planned for Friday so watch out for the celebrations.

We had such an amazing assembly. Children who have settled into their new classes really well, shown a super attitude to all aspects of school and particularly impressed their teachers, received the first Achievement Certificates of the new academic year. We presented books to the winners of the summer Reading Bingo and awarded our hockey players certificates for their success at this weeks tournament.

It was time to present the House Cup to Ireland who won the recent Inter House 'Bake Off' with their wide variety of breads. We have some fantastic bakers across school and across all the Houses. Congratulation everyone.

It was a privilege to be welcomed once more to St Mary's Church, where children from Reception to Year Six joined Reverend Ben in celebrating Harvest.

There was a strong theme of 'thank you' from the children. We celebrated through poems, songs and even a rap this year!  All our classes were fantastic.  Our Year Six House Captains and Vice Captains presented the wheat sheaves, made as part of our inter-house baking competition, which were blessed and gratefully received.

We finished our Harvest service of thanks with our Year Six children getting us all involved in the 'traditional' Harvest Rock 'n' Roll.  Thank you everyone.

We had a wonderful array of bread in school for our 'Great Inter House Bake Off' The House Captains created the most amazing wheat sheaf's with other members of their House contributing to the range of bread, from nan and soda bread to herby rolls. The judging was made slightly easier than previous competitions as the winning house was the one that baked the biggest variety. There was some spectacular baking, well done everyone. The result will be announced in assembly this week.

Two of our hockey teams took part in the qualifying round of the Herefordshire Winter Games, to be held in February 2018, and we are delighted that we won and will be taking a team to represent the school. They all played brilliantly. Congratulations.

Not only did we award Headteacher Stickers to amazing children, who have been super role models in terms of work and behaviour, but we were able to introduce our new School Council to the school. They have already made plans to improve the school and have some excellent ideas that they will be sharing with us over the year. Congratulations to them all and thank you.

It was a great pleasure to take some of our Key Stage 2 children up to Lady Hawkins' for a range of sporting activities.  Children from Year 3 & 4 were involved in Multiskills; a range of activities to work on children's ABCs (Agility, Balance and Coordination).  Meanwhile outside, in the drizzle, children from Year 5&6 were involved in orienteering activities.  There were plenty of smiles all around - well done to you all.

    Tuesday 10th October

Our first Enrichment Day of the new school year found children making, creating, designing, tasting, cooking and generally having a great day with so much to discover and learn. The children really enjoy working in mixed age groups and supporting each other. Fruit kebabs were made for the children to buy and quickly sold out at break time. They were really delicious. Reception Class went for a beautiful autumn walk in the sunshine. A super day.

We were delighted to welcome back two of our ex-pupils who came to tell us how well they had settled into Lady Hawkins' School. It was lovely to hear about their exciting new lessons and how independent they are having to be. Headteacher, Mr Jennings, and Head of Year Seven, Mrs Bennison, accompanied them.  Mr Jennings kindly presented our children their Headteacher's Stickers in recognition of hard work and a fantastic attitude over the past two weeks. A super assembly.
