Our School Value for May is Cooperation.
Our Core Values: Hope, Trust, Courage & Perseverance, Respect, Cooperation, Responsibility, Kindness & Friendship, Honesty, Peace and Understanding.
We explore our core values in our school and class assemblies and look out for them in our daily practice, earning Values Vouchers and Beads as we go.
The four acts that were awarded a 'Highly Commended' for their performances at the May Fair performed to the school. We all saw just how brilliant they were and well deserving of that accolade.
We reflected on the words of one of the songs as we thought about love, life and peace in light of the recent events.
Year Five began their 'Heartstart' training today. Basic first aid together with CPR training are such important skills for them to have. They were brilliant.
The children are getting ready for our School Fair and Talent Show tomorrow with a 'wear what you like' day in school. We celebrated kindness, caring and hard work in assembly and congratulated our first ever pupil to reach 400 house points and receive a blue star. Amazing achievements by them all. Congratulations.
The Nursery Children visited Turners Garden Centre to look at all the summer plants and to talk about the best way to plant and look after them. They returned to school with seedlings to plant and a sunflower to take home. They are all taking part in a competition to see which one grows the tallest with Turners very kindly giving a prize for the winner. We wonder who it will be?
All Stars cricket introduced a fantastic opportunity for our children in Year One to Year Three. It aims to give our young children 'the chance to play, learn great skills and meet new friends'. Look out for the information coming home this evening. The children had a great time cheering on staff and children as they took part in some super challenges.
Thursday Book Swap was successful once again with the children discovering more of their favourite books and chatting about authors that they had not read yet. The children have their eyes on their next book, if its not been swapped by then!
Four of our children took part in an inter-school tennis competition at Lady Hawkins' School and were brilliant. We are very proud of them. Congratulations.
Year Three completed their Herefordshire Council Child Practical Pedestrian Training today showing that they can safely cross busy roads and amongst parked cars. Kington was slightly quieter today than their walk last week but we know that the children will have all the skills to be safe wherever they are. Well done to them all.
Thursday ‘Book Swap ‘is proving to be very successful with children bringing a book that they have read and swapping it for another one. We are slowly extending the range and number of books and hope it will go from strength to strength. Another good idea that has come from our School Council, thank you.
Year Six SATs came to an end with the children having worked really hard to show all the skills and knowledge they have gained over their time at school. They deserved the treat of finding out that their end of year show is going to be 'Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies'. Auditions begin on Monday so an exciting time ahead.
