  • Friday 15th December

    Fri 15 Dec 2017 Mr D Perkins

It was a lovely end of term today, as the school was filled with Christmas jumpers and colours - raising money towards Save the Children.  In total, combining the money raised today and the money from the Early Years and Key Stage One performance, we raised £276 - thank you everyone.

We also had a great Achievement Assembly today, packed with a range of successes.  We congratulated children for achieving their House Point badges, Achievement Certificates, gaining 100% attendance for the whole term and also gave prizes to some lucky winners for earning 'green cards' at break and lunch plays.  Congratulations to Year 6 and Year 3 for being joint winners for the class attendance challenge.

After a short break, we returned to the hall for Key Stage 2 to share some of their Christmas Concert - with Year 6 children reading the story of Babushka, while Year 3 acted out the story in their fantastic costumes.

From everyone at Kington Primary School, we wish you all a very happy, safe and special Christmas holiday.  We look forward to seeing you all back at school on Wednesday 3rd January 2018!

We are so pleased that we were able to have our Christmas Party Day. It has been a bit difficult this week with all the snow but today the children were very happy enjoying fun and games, quizzes and challenges, crafts and of course a super party lunch.

We were also able to enjoy some of the carols and songs that had been planned for our Carol Concert. It was lovely to have so many parents join us to sing and celebrate.

This morning's performance from Nursery and Reception was fantastic.  Their 'Wriggly Nativity' kept the whole school smiling while the snow fell outside; a truly magical nativity. Merry Christmas!
  • KPS Choir Carol Singing at The Garth and Kington Court

Thu 07 Dec 2017 Mrs Bretherton
Our Choir had such a warm welcome this week from the all residents and staff at both The Garth and Kington Court as we visited to share some carols and festive songs.  Mrs Argyle and Mrs Bretherton were very proud as the children sang beautifully and then spent some time chatting with the residents as we all enjoyed some well-deserved treats.

What a treat it was to 'Follow the Star' with Year One and Year Two today as they told the story of Christmas to a full hall of family and friends. Their singing was so beautiful and they performed brilliantly with such confidence and enjoyment. The photographs capture just a few moments of such a lovely day.

    Wed 06 Dec 2017 Mr D Perkins

It was so lovely to see people queuing outside the school gates this morning; waiting in anticipation for the Nursery and Reception Christmas ‘Jiggly Nativity’. The rest of the school are really looking forward to watching it on Friday morning.  We will have some photos to share then.

This afternoon children from Year 1 & 2 shared their Nativity dress rehearsal with the rest of the school. It was a fantastic performance by all involved, capturing the story and message of Christmas perfectly. The words were spoken clearly and the songs were very catchy. Thank you Key Stage 1!

The children in KS1 are performing again for their families on Thursday and to keep the element of surprise, photos from today will be shared after the parents' performance tomorrow.

  • Inter-school Spelling Bee run by LHS students

Fri 01 Dec 2017 Mrs Bretherton
On Wednesday 29th November, we took three teams from Year 5 and 6 to take part in the brilliant first spelling competition run by students from Lady Hawkin's School.  Everyone did really well and congratulations to the Almeley team who won.  One of our teams came second and we all agreed it was very difficult to spell out long words (conspirator, exaggeration, conspicuous) from memory in front of a room full of people!  Well done to everyone.

    Fri 01 Dec 2017 Mr D Perkins

A new month brought many reasons for us to be excited in assembly today.

Together we congratulated several children for receiving their all important House Point badges, others for their swimming achievements, some children from Year 5 & 6 who took part in a local Spelling Bee competition, as well as the majority of Year 6 who have recently completed their Bikeability training.  And that was all before we had heard about the two children from each class who had been spotted by their class teachers for something exceptional.  This week's children were celebrated for a number of qualities including cooperation, hard work, being excellent role models, fantastic presentation of work and even just being so smiley!

A lovely way to end the week - congratulations to you all!
