  • Happy Christmas Everyone

Wed 16 Dec 2020 Mrs AC Phillips and Mr D Perkins

Our final post of the year is to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all from the children. Classes across school have recorded a song for you, sent with best wishes for Christmas and 2021. These can be found on our Video Resource Centre. We also had a very special visitor today who tiptoed, safely, around school to give the children a festive wave as they took part in lots of Christmas activities.

We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 5th January 2021.

    Take care everyone.

  • Celebrations

Wed 16 Dec 2020 Mrs AC Phillips and Mrs E Bretherton

It was so lovely to come together with Reverend Ben for our final assembly of 2020.

We congratulated the children receiving their Achievements Certificates for this half term and the Sports Council present the winners of the Star Jump challenge with their prizes.

Perseverance, friendship, thoughtfulness and courage came from so many of the celebrations of achievement. All the children have been remarkable.

Reverend Ben shared with us the French crib celebrations and we finished by thinking about the special star this time of year and the stars are with us all and unite us all. We thought about all of those that we cannot see this year and sent everyone our brightest and shiniest good wishes.

  • For Every Child

Fri 11 Dec 2020 Mrs A Phillips and Mr D Perkins

We have been thinking a lot about the rights of children over the past few weeks so today was a really good opportunity to think about why there is a Save The Children day. Many of us wore a winter or Christmas jumper and we all thought about our wishes for children wherever they are in the world.  We particularly thought about school and home and the things that we would wish for every child. We hope that the money we have raise will help those we have been thinking of. Thank you everyone.

It was also a day to celebrate all of the children in school and it was special to be giving Headteacher Stickers today. They were awarded for a whole range of reasons; for fantastic effort and attitude, for friendship and thoughtfulness, for being incredible Sports Council members and for tricky mathematics. We are so proud of them all.

  • The Snowman - Enrichment Day

Fri 04 Dec 2020 Mrs AC Phillips and Mr D Perkins

We were all treated to the most incredible musical experience today. Toscana Strings shared in our winter and diversity themed Enrichment Day bringing The Snowman story to life in the most beautiful way, with each concert matched to the age of the children. Each class sat in awe as they played for them. It was amazing. One of our younger children said "that made me cry" and his friend added "but happy tears". We are so grateful to Friends of Kington Primary School and Kington United Charities for helping to make this happen for all of our children.

In class children explored this timeless story thinking about snowflakes and snowmen as well as the diverse celebrations across religions at this time of year. To make the day even more special there was art, music, drama, and story telling. Class pages will give you a little insight into the day so keep an eye out for updates. Some of the concert can also be found in the Video Resource Centre.
