  • It's Friday

    Fri 29 Jun 2018 Mrs A Phillips
The weeks are just flying past at the moment as we head towards the end of the school year. We have lots of children out of school doing exciting things including visits to Newbridge Farm, river dipping and Year Six Induction at Lady Hawkins. The hall was quite empty for Headteacher sticker assembly so each class was able to recognise a few more children for their achievements this week. We also had the space to spread out and dance and sing which was lovely.
  • Enrichment

    Tue 26 Jun 2018 Mrs A Phillips

We always enjoy the opportunity to make the curriculum just that little bit more exciting for the children and our Enrichment Days are certainly that with the children working with classes from across the school and exploring new things. The activities give them the chance to talk through ideas and learn together. There is always a special buzz around school.

The children have also been talking about their super London Residential trip so we have included a couple of photographs with many more in our website 'Gallery.' Learning really is fun.

  • Selina Cup

    Thu 14 Jun 2018 Mr D Perkins
Today we hosted our annual event of the Selina Cup; an all girls football competition.  Our team played fantastically well and although we came third overall, the children really enjoyed their afternoon and were a credit to the school and sport.  Thank you again to Mr Ward-Willis for organising the event and congratulations New Radnor school for winning.
  • Achievement Assembly

Tue 12 Jun 2018 Mrs AC Phillips

We held Achievement Assembly on a slightly different day today but it was still a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the special children who, over the last half term, had worked on a whole range of aspects of learning across all areas of the curriculum. Many of the children were also acknowledged as being great role models. We also said congratulations to children who had achieved their first swimming badge, those who represented us in Herefordshire Puzzle Day and the teams that played brilliantly in an Inter-School tennis tournament. We all sung our 'Well Done' song as an acknowledgement of all the children in school. Congratulations everyone.

This afternoon our singing group visited Kington Court to share some of their favourite songs and to chat to the residents. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

  • Royal Headteacher Stickers

    Fri 08 Jun 2018 Mr D Perkins

Today we congratulated a number of our children with Headteacher Awards.  This week's choices saw a group of children picked out for their input towards Sports Day: either by their excellent performances on the day; or for their contributions to the whole team effort.

However, we were also keen to find out who had been drawn to be the Prince and Princesses of the Kington Festival.  Thank you to all the Year 6s who put themselves forward.  Congratulations to our lucky ones this year and thank you again to the Kington Festival Committee for coming in to present the lovely buttonhole, flowers and tiaras.

  • Sports Day

    Thu 07 Jun 2018 Mr D Perkins

Today showcased a brilliant morning of sport, as we held our Sports Day up at Lady Hawkins'.  It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and everyone should be very proud of theirselves.  Thank you to everyone for their part:  adults for organising; parents & families for supporting and the children for making it so exciting to watch.

Below are the winners of the class medals, the Key Stage 1 trophy, the Key Stage 2 trophy & shield as well as the Victor and Victrix winners from Year 6.

Many (many!) more photos from the day can be seen in our Gallery page

  • Money Monday - welcome back!

Mon 04 Jun 2018 Mrs Bretherton
After a well-deserved rest everyone got straight into today's activities to help us learn more about finance and budgets.  Our termly 'Money Monday' lessons across KS2 explored what good value is, whether to use credit or debit and how to balance a budget among other things. As well as swimming and play practice, some of our choir also visited The Garth with Mrs Argyle to share some songs with the residents. The children loved meeting everyone and swapping stories too.
