  • Sports Day Celebrations

Fri 24 Jun 2022 Mrs AC Phillips and Mr D Perkins

We had the most amazing Sports Day made especially special because at long last we were able to share the event with so many families who enjoyed the wonderful weather and the incredible achievements of children from across school.

The field at LHS was full of cheering, clapping and encouragement with the children trying their hardest to do their best in whichever event they were taking part in.

The final scores were very close with England lifting the KS2 trophy and Ireland the KS1 trophy. Special medals were presented to children in each class for showing something just that little bit special in sport throughout the year.

We were delighted to be able to welcome Emma from Kington Festival Committee who presented the Victor and Victrix Ludorum cup to two pupils in Year Six for exceptional sporting achievement, participation and perseverance.

Back in school we also had two exciting assemblies with classes being able to come together in the hall to receive House Point badges and Headteacher stickers. It was also a ‘wear what you like day’ in preparation for the school Summer Fayre next Friday.

We have had a great week with fantastic children and our brilliant school community.

More photos of our Key Stage 1 & 2 Sports Day can be found in our Gallery.

  • Four Candles

Fri 17 Jun 2022 Mrs AC Phillips

It was so lovely to welcome Mr Doctor back into school this morning. Mr Doctor is such an important part of the school team as a previous Deputy Headteacher and we were delighted that he was happy to lead a super values assembly and award the KS2 Headteacher Stickers for this week. Previous staff always remain part of the school community and we enjoy sharing these moments. We thank Mr Doctor for being with us today.

We have been keeping pace with the busy and exciting London Residential and look forward to welcoming them back this evening. Photographs will follow when everyone has had a relaxing weekend.

  • Waiting!!

Fri 10 Jun 2022 Mrs AC Phillips

The children have been watching the progress of the new playground equipment with real interest and excitement. We are looking forward to being able to use it as part of our outdoor learning next week.

The second phase is planned, ready for the time that our funding grants are successful. For now, it is brilliant to be able to offer this to our children.

We did not have our usual Friday Assembly today as the morning was taken up with our whole school photograph. It is quite a feat to congregate on Lady Hawkins’ playing field and all smile at the right time. We had to postpone this event in 2020 so we are delighted that today was a success. We are now looking forward to seeing the final photograph when it arrives.

  • Watch this Space

Tue 07 Jun 2022 Mrs AC Phillips

We are delighted that the first phase of our playground development has begun. The children have had a big influence on how they wish their playground to be and we are excited that some of the green spaces and now the physical activities that they asked for are talking shape.

Watch out for more photographs later in the week.
